How is he going?
is he still playing magoos?
any chance of a game in rounds 21, 22?
would love to see him have a crack

Richo you can read about Cogs' performances in the game threads on the Coburg board. I love Mark and long to see him play again but I'm happy for him to take small steps and get through games rather than give his all and risk re-injury. Hopefully he'll have a good pre-season this year and be back where he belongs for many more years.

Still a ways off to leysy's eye but a good finals campaign at Coburg will also get a bit of confidence & continuity in his play.

i'm not sure he'll be there in 2009
He's contract to the end of 2009, and I'm not sure he'd bring much on the open market due to his injuries and lack of seniors footy. I think he'll be there and I think he'll be great for our side next year. Our midfield will have a lot more grunt.

If he has a good year next year and Sugar retires end of 2009, is there any chance of Coughlan taking over?

He was considered genuine captain material from a young age, more expectation than Deledio has today.

Even with a full return to form it would be unlikely he'd get it though. Would be nice to see!

Well said Rosy.

Cogz would be invaluable to us if we can get him 100% fit and firing for the season next year. Considering the complications and amount of setbacks his had we have to take a cautious approach and just let him ease himself back into footy for the rest of the season/finals at coburg in order to allow him to do a big pre-season for 2009.

Would hate to loose him because we put his body under too much pressure with a token game. Keeping in mind if he has another serious setback that will just about be the nail in the coffin for him.

It would be a huge bonus if the old cogs came into the team next year.
Would take alot of pressure off Tucky and Foley who have both taken their game to a new level since he has been injured.

I'd prefer to see Danny Meyer get a run before the season is out!

I like to consider the rest of this season as an extended pre-season for Coughlan. I'd doubt there'd be a person at the club that is as proffessional about their body as Cogs is. He's like a sponge for knowledge on fitness / health and training techniques and asks heaps of questions in this regard of anyone that he feels might add to his knowledge base.

If he gets through the next pre-season fit, then i think we'll have picked up a very solid ready made midfielder and exactly the type we need - a mature one!

Richo deserves the arm band until lids will be ready for the #17 in 2011

I would think that is the last thing he needs right now, It will be hard enough for him to return at all let alone worrying about the captaincy as well.
