Mark Seaby

Don't mind Seaby onto our list but not for draft picks. Happy to offer any of Shulz, Petifer, Polak, Hughes, JON and Raines in trade week. Add to that Tuck. Better still, why don't we swap Seaby for Pattison?

I'm not a big wrap for Seaby but surely if we can engineer a trade for one of our players who we are going to punt ie JON/Schulz etc then why not. We don't have a lot of ruckman and I don't think Graham is the answer (Patto certainly isnt!) and Vickery needs more time before being thrown into first ruck.

The only problem is the players I have offered up are probably not worth anything in a trade. Patto for Seaby might be a possibility. Just depends on whether WC have a place for someone with Patto's special abilities.

Gee, Saints haven't done too bad with the hacks they got (drug addict and a broken down old pensioner).

Premiership ruckman/ex captain and Grand final ruckman/No,1 draft pick!!!

Give me them hacks anyday ;)

no no no. why replace duds with duds.

and yep we need to find a short to mid term ruckman who can actually play a bit. to help vickery and browne. i say these two because i think the other ruckmen we have are duds or past it and offer nothing.

It seems we have a concensus.............stop trading for duds, regardless of age or position. Seaby is not only a dud, he is hard at it, like......Kayne Pettifer ;)

No way, he's no good. If there can be an 'outside' ruckman then he is it!

We should develop Graham, Vickery, Pattison and Browne. Delist Simmonds and draft a ruckman in the rookie draft.

Mark Seaby hasn't been able to command a position at WC for around 3 years. Although ours need time to mature and we do need to target a ruckman, not interested in Seaby.

At the risk of getting Ronnit mad what about offering Newman to Carlton for Hampson. They have Kruezer, Warnock plus Cloke and desparately need some one who can kick in their backline.

We may need to find a home for Newman to take the edge off appointing Ben as skipper next year.
We may also benefit draft pick wise if for instance the trade included our second round pick for their first?

the blues have thornton, scotland and houlihan running round their backline. whilst newman isnt quite in the same category, they need someone who can actually beat his opponent. anyway
we will not trade our captain.
no to seaby tho.

Seaby...any interest

Seaby has told WC he wants to leave the club at the end of the year. He is uncontracted and could walk into the PSD. So the question is...would we be interested?

We were definitely interested last year and would've taken him if WC had've accepted a 3rd rounder. But now, with Vickery and Browne added, and Gus finally showing signs that at the least he could be an endurance/2nd ruckman in the future, we aren't as desperate for a ruck as we were at the end of last year. Having someone like Seaby however would mean that we could definitely let Simmonds go, & it would also allow a bit more breathing time for Browne & Putt to develop, & would allow TV to spend a bit more time forward while he bulks up and improves his fitness.

IMO he would be a good get for the right price. If we could get him for a PSD pick or a straight player swap for one of our players who would be likely leaving anyway it would be a win for us. I can't imagine WC would have a high asking price considering they could very easily lose him for nothing
