Marlion Pickett!

Wasn’t it family loyalty that got Andy Krakouer into strife when he belted that other guy up over in W.A and spent some time in the big house as a result?
Yeah. Families feuding type of situation. Think Andrew and his brother both got done for that incident. Belted a bloke up to within an inch of his life. Probably very lucky it didn’t result in death and they would have been facing man slaughter or even murder charges and had a dead man on their conscience.

I feel very low today.
His story of redemption inspires me. I hate even contemplating his possible reversion to a former life.

Heard from a bloke in Castlemaine that Ben Cousins was driving the getaway car and Matt Parker was the lookout. 100 % I'm behind Marlion stick fat tigers. Bigger issues in the Stratosphere

He that is without sin cast the first stone.

It's disgraceful that some on here want a public lynching before all the facts are revealed.

Says it was commercial properties so it’s not a case of a personal dispute or taking back property from a mate, it’s straight out robbing.

Unbelievable.
Very much not so.
If, for example, a builder takes a trail bike from my place he could very likely store it at his lockup where he stores other work gear.
If I then went round and took it back while he was present then that is aggravated burglary of a commercial premises.

Incorrect, you cannot steal your own property.

It would be a trespass not a burglary. Possibly also criminal damage if you had to force entry.

What, not get paid enough for beer money by the club?????? Simply cannot understand why or how he's managed to get himself somehow tangled up in crap like this.

Pickett's lawyer David Manera said the prosecution case rested largely on allegations deposits were made into his bank account by his co-offenders and that a camper-van rented in his name was driven interstate by the other men.

Magistrate Erin O'Donnell said the allegations were serious but she was confident Pickett did not present a significant flight risk.

She granted bail on the condition Pickett resides at his address in the Melbourne suburb of Reservoir, reports weekly to a local police station, does not interact with his alleged co-offenders and provides a $50,000 personal surety.

He is due to return to court in August.

Sounds a lot better than being at the crime scene. More like facilitating it as the accusation.

Where to from here - is he coming back to the club?
Is he eligible to play (presumption of innocense)?

Had a feeling others would be involved someway. I think he lives in Thornbury, not Rezza. Might have to be his final season with us I think.

The Court schedule for today probably paints a picture:

Central Law Courts
501 Hay Street, PERTH
Criminal Listing

Time Name Floor-Court

10:00am PICKETT, Marlion John 4 - 42
9:30am PICKETT, Blake Lee 5 - 57
9:30am PICKETT, Cherie May 3 - 38
9:30am PICKETT, Shondelle Lee 3 - 32

So going by the above articles, it sounds as though he didn't physically take part in the burglaries, the stolen funds were deposited into his account.

Not as bad as first thought.

I wonder what his level of knowledge was in regards to where those funds came from?

Based on the above it's probable that he will continue to play, unless he personally feels he won't be able to handle the scrutiny, attention and opposition fan tirades.

Sounds like he allowed himself to be used for the sake of helping his extended family, but still an accessory to the crimes.

Yeah, looks like family problems. I remember Dimma? in a presser saying Pickett was away for family reasons during this or last summer.

I am no lawyer but a fair bit of circumstantial evidence without any real witnesses that he was present at the burglaries.

He had been straight for some time before coming to Richmond so it seems absurd that he would knowingly involve himself at this time of his life. Shouldn't have gone home for Christmas.

Haven't given up on him.

Agree jimbob. Sometimes I get the feeling Shai likes staying in Victoria, especially now raising his kid.

Depends on the club.
Reckon he should be allowed to play. The club took a risk with him the first time and seriously why not this time?Think there are plenty of footballers with criminal records going around.Everyone stuffs up from time to time.Aiding and abetting in a burglary is not rape or murder.Let him play.It will be good for his mental state.
