Massive news out of WA / Chris Mainwaring - Died? [Merged]

Mainwaring was a true champion and if memory serves me well, almost won the Brownlow one year.
A shocking knee injury brought his career to an end sooner than expected.

RIP Mainwaring and thanks for the great memories.

Drug overdose... what a tragedy. Is there enough help out there, what can society do to help people who make a few poor decisions? The government's 'zero tolerance' crap is just an unrealistic solution to gain votes, eventually we should find a way to help.

I remember seeing Chris making his comeback after doing his knee so I saw the respect others held for him. RIP.

Part of a team that revolutionised the game. That midfield - Kemp - Turley Mainwaring - Matera - Lamb
Very good

Oi, don't forget Don Pyke and that little gun Tony Evans. I loved Chris Mainwaring. This is one of the biggest shocks of my life, thought my mate was joking when she told me :o :( :( :( Devastated. #3 might be retired for a few years after this. Fantastic, tough wingman. Named in our Team20. Might not have had the best skills in the game but he had the heart, workrate and ability to find the ball and make it his, whether it was on the ground or in the air and race it up to our end. 2 time All Australian (1991 and 1997) 2 time premiership player (1992 and 1994), one time losing grand finalist (1991). Matera was on the other wing, he was in good company, company he was able to mix it with. He came up to my hometown to present the league's b&f. Was very entertaining as the MC and he couldn't have been nicer to me and my brothers. Had a kick with us, signed anything and he was the one that was exhausting our capability to speak. Geraldton's favourite son has died. RIP Mainy, loved meeting you and watching you tear around the field :( :'(
