Match Day Thread: Richmond vs St Kilda

Myself an the FC had to leave at the 10 minute mark,so when we left we were 8 points in front an what a shocking feeling it was to be hoping to find out that we had been beat.

Adam Pattison is well worth persisting with but I do hope he works VERY VERY HARD ON HIS KICKING SKILLS over the off season.

He was the best pure ruckman on the field, he had a great day overall. Yes his disposal was not great but gee he is coming on
Well we didnt have any other 'pure' ruckman and Saints sure as hell don't so am glad that Pattison was the best 'pure' ruckman on the field.

Kosi was better all round, but that was because of when he went foward. But Patto did more as an actual ruckman.

Pattison is the very reason why we are crap from year to year ie the complete and utter acceptance of mediocrity in comparison with what quality Premiership winning sides put out on the field.

Really? well it depends what you focus on, the one terrible thing he does because he is young and inexperienced or the 10 good things he does that shows he is dveloping as a player

When Dean Cox decides to come to Richmond in the PSD I look forward to your fulsome praise of him.

CC totally agree, in that last Q when we went forward i barracked hard, if we kicked on and won i would've sang the song with gusto but on the other hand when the saints went forward i wasn't to concerned when they goaled and went in front. It’s shocking to go to the football and have these thoughts.

Yes some would be upset with the loss but im more upset for the season we've had as i was hoping for finals action. So in all honesty in the whole scheme of things when u look at the bigger picture its not whether we won or lost this RD 22 game its come Nov when the draft is on and we have pick 1 or 2, a priority pick at say 17 or 18 and another pick at 18 or 19. PSD first pick and rookie draft. Then we can say hey we have some decent picks to improve our list and our future, that’s what it’s about for me improving the list.

The last four weeks i have seen the team take another step up so much more run and confidence, yes we lost but ya know wat i still believe the guys will take the last month of the season into next year and to top it off we will add some quality early picks for the future in this coming draft.

Must say AT when I left the game I thought we would win,but felt a big relief when I got to the car an we had lost, its just all wrong.

I actually think a comittee of some kind maybe better to give out the priority pick, which can take into account things such as injury's to key players i.e Pies in 05 or how competitive teams have been with a list of kids an weather loosing the last 11 games after winning 4 of the first 11 deserves the number 1 pick

Could be the best idea yet mate.

I know the siren had sounded but when Fraser bounced the ball that should have been play on...end of game. No way should he have been allowed that goal.
Neverthe less good effort by the Tiges and no tanking, they gave it their best shot. The difference in the end was our skill errors.
Bring on 2008.
Rob
*smile*. The result was determined by the green maggots. Gehrig handballs a goal ffs

Sat in the Cheer Squad today, was the hardest I've ever barracked too. Loved the chant "Gehrig's a wanker..... *clap* *clap*.......*clap**clap**clap*" :hihi

Did you see the rock ape stick his face in the Richmond supporters face? What a wanker Gherig is.

During the last, I was hoping for a draw - would have got off the bottom of the ladder and kept the priority pick. At least it was competitive today - according to the Record, we've lost our last 8 (9 now) against the Saints at an average losing margin of 55 points.

It's sad that I could see the upside of losing the match.

I dont know 100% what the answer is but something has got to be done. If the Demitriou has half a brain he needs to look at it and perhaps take some of what u said CC.

Well ill throw this up u win 2 games or less and u get a priority pick that’s it! Win 2 and a half games and u get zilch, now most teams would win 1 or 2 in the first 11 games. Actually i think this will work tanking will be hard as 2 wins in a season are very achievable, c'mon Damir take my lead and instill this new priority pick system to ur AFL cohorts over the summer...

Thank goodness!

For a good few minutes I thought we'd actually be stupid enough to win the bloody game.

Nearly a heart attack!
I guess you don't actually turn up to a game and barrack for the tigers.
I've never been to a game and find a tiger supporter barracking for the opposition. Certainly didn't see any of those today.
I enjoyed today's game because our boys were trying the ir best to win.
They got done by the maggots, not by any desire to get a draft advantage.

Was at the game in my usual seat behind the Punt Road goals on level N. From the noise and cheering going on, saw none of the "tank you bast@rds tank damn you!" army that seems to be rife sadly.

As for the players, plenty of effort and guts to get back into the game and nearly win it. Honestly do not think they were tanking, and that they were really going for the win.

Good to see some lateral thinking but if you are going to do this to make it impossible then why have priority picks at all? And if a teams was on 2 wins after Round 11,15,20...what would stop them from tanking in this situation?

Problem is I don't think there really is a perfect solution. Personally I'd prefer to give top pick to 9th position and so on. Last place would get 8th and 17th as second round would revert back to 16th going first. This way there is a real incentive to fight it out to the end.

Anyone know who the tiger supporter was getting escorted out by the boy's in blue!
