The time has come the walrus said, change the coach.

We need a coach that the players will respect, follow and has a track record of success. Wallace has the best result of a Preliminary final, and so had Frawley.

Our last premiership coach, Tony Jewell.

I have met Wallace several times and he is a nice bloke. We do not need a nice bloke as our coach, that time has past.

In the last 10 years of the Frawley/Wallace dynasty we have let them build a team, create culture, bring in the youth and whatever. Result, there is no difference except to say I truly believe we have a better list that has no direction or inspiration to play.

How you could play like that infront of 87,000 people with the build up we had, is incredible.

Maybe it would be better that we don't make the finals, remember 1995 and 2001 prelim finals.

Forget about Matthews. We need to appoint someone who really wants the job and has a vision for the future, for that reason I think Richmond should appoint 3 coaches next season: claw, diggler and laff. These are the blokes the club needs to go forward. After last night they're probably the only people who would take on the job anyway.

Yep claw could coach by satellite link (except for games in WA of course)

Assuming TW is not coaching the Tiges in 2010, we need to have a good look at what coaches are available.

The list of possible coaches could consist of Matthews, Buckley, Malthouse, Mark Williams, Sheedy and then a list 10 deep of rookie coaches currently working as assistants like Wayne Campbell.

I think where the club is at, we need to get a coach that can instill a culture where winning and success are the only things that matter, and the team will do anything to acheive this. As it stands, these things only exist on random occasions.

For me it would be Malthouse or Matthews. Malthouse for his Tigers connection and Matthews because he is the best coach going around.

malthouse has done nothing at collingwood considering the gifted draw they get year after year, He is always crook and he would be a big backwards step. Mathews doesnt seem to be hungry enough to want to coach again, why would he, hes done everything. I reckon old Pox Lambert should be given a go. Old richmond bloke who had guts. If cambo through a punch or showed some real heart when libba smashed knights all those years ago he might of had a chance but we dont want our players any softer than they already are. Lets get a coach who isnt interested in his looks and appearance or sounding like a real "nice bloke". Lets get someone in with a bit of grunt and determination

Forget Mathews, Sheedy, Malthouse - past their used by dates
Forget Campbell too.
Hardwick is the man - tough and successful as a player, successful as an assistant coach, young, knows how the modern game is played, and most importantly has witnessed first hand how recruiting works and how a list and players are developed.

:clap :clap Could not agree more hazza madazza.

Jim Malone and Richmond weren't so sure Leigh Matthews was the right man during the later stages of 1997. They were keen on Jeff Gieschan.
There is not a hope in hell Matthews would come to Richmond.
