Maurice Rioli Jnr

No he doesn't. If he gets the ball in that position he needs to back himself to make the inside kick. That's the game plan. Whoever has it needs to do it, if it's there.

Goal kicking is a different kettle of fish.
Then he needs to take the fish out of the kettle. That's a stupid use of a kettle.

Nobody is really sure where the expression comes from, but we do know that the phrase a kettle of fish was originally a literal term. These days, especially in Britain and Commonwealth countries, we think of a kettle as a small enclosed container with a handle and spout for boiling water to make our tea. (I believe that Americans are less familiar with this essential item of kitchenware.) In the eighteenth century, though, a kettle was any large vessel used to boil stuff in.

There was, it seems, a custom by which the gentry on the Scottish border with England would hold a picnic by a river. The custom was described by Thomas Newte in his Tour of England and Scotland in 1785: “It is customary for the gentlemen who live near the Tweed to entertain their neighbours and friends with a Fete Champetre, which they call giving ‘a kettle of fish’. Tents or marquees are pitched near the flowery banks of the river ... a fire is kindled, and live salmon thrown into boiling kettles”.

to be fair to MJ, Hardwick only wanted him to run and place pressure. Now he is able to be part of the mid field link, to take on players, break the lines. He did that well on Sunday. The more he plays this type of role, the better he will become.
Yep looks like Yze is backing him to get more ball and be involved offensively instead of just chasing.

Heard Alex Neale Bullen, who had improved out of sight, attribute Yze for building his confidence when he was at the dees. So you might be right about the coach giving him confidence, as long as it comes with know your limitations on inbound kicks when the opposition is close by.
Whats the best way to know your limitations?

Only way to know is to fail.
Step over them, run over it or fall flat on your face on top of it. Find out where they are.

There might be something in what Dogwick said once. If a player spends too long in the AFL system he remains at that level

He's certainly appears to be performing better, not just this week. He hasn't appeared to fumble as frequently (yes, not winter yet, mostly dry conditions etc). If we're telling him to attack that's going to come with risk of turnovers. We have to wear those whilst he learns.
Encouraging when 9 months ago he looked a lost cause.
We need every pick to come good, given where we were taking them. Hopefully we get some match winners too.

You want whoever has that kick to take that kick. MoJu took it 4 times, 2-2 result.
5 times spyman.
3-2 in our favour.
He's gotta learn to always kick long to big Tom when he's in that form. Then it becomes 4-1 which is high performance

Definitely a step forward and showed some of the potential we haven't seen a lot of the time.

Let's hope he can keep this up and develop further as he looks like he could be a good player when he has a game like that.

His mistakes were what we expect from a young player, but balanced with some good play, this is what we have been hoping he can do.

I guess yze himself needs to know which players are capable of executing his game plan , only way to find out is send them out there to do it

Along with Brown MJ was the other big positive for me.
For the second game in a row played well.
Seems to be past the hammy that dogged him much of last year & is building now on the excitement of his '22 season.
Took an overhead mark, hit targets, kicked his goals & his tackling is as good as a Rioli gets.
His confidence is really building. It's wonderful to see.

Starting to believe in his own capabilities
Potentially also his tank is getting better
Regardless, hope the graph trends up

His highlights today. Confident kick for goal and brutal tackling
