I reckon the media is getting a bit ahead of themselves annointing Ryan Griffen the next big thing. The kid has shown glimpses but he should not be listed in the top 50 players in the land.

Lid's has gone from media fave in 05 to just another kid due to his solid rather than spectacular 06.

I reckon that they'll both be great but Lids has as much chance as Griffen as being the young star of 07...

it really doesn't matter who will have a better year because at the end of the day ryan griffen eyes are cocked and waaaayyyyyyyy to close together.

go lids

Really hard to say who'll have a better year. They are both talented players but they are operating in vastly different environments.

Griffen has the luxury of playing behind a very talented midfield at the Doggies and plays the sweeper role off HB nicely. He is also a very well rounded player.

A testament to his abilities, Deledio is taking a lot more heat at the Tigers as evidenced by the strong tags he was wearing last year. He's very talented when he's got the ball but needs to work harder defensively.

I have little doubt that Lids would be starring in Griffen's sweeper role at the Doggies too though.

It will be interesting to see both players development in '07.

Good post ToO, i for one think that over time lids will be more of a damaging player than griffen.

With the Doggies making the finals last year they were everyone's darlings (and probably rightly so)
so of course Griffen got heaps of great write ups. Should we make the finals no doubt the papers will
all be aplauding Lids just as much.

HA! Yep it's true and that photo on the cover of the Herald Sun footy liftout he looks like he's got a horse face :hihi

Oh yeah, I prefer Lids too. He's gt a bigger bag of tricks...

Both undoubted future stars of the game, I prefer Lids personally, but what I would like to point out due to the BS we have copped regarding pick 4, tell me if Im wrong but wouldnt most teams prefer Griffin over Roughead ;D

A family member who works closely with the draft couldn't believe Richmond didn't take Roughhead.

Why would anyone in the world have taken Roughead in front of Lids,Lids was basically a given number 1 12 months out especially with Buddy unable to remove his head from his a***,

Yep you're right B2, I did mean Franklin.
Still a bit nervous posting on PRE as a new comer.
Maybe I should stick to my banner suggestions for a while as penance. :'(

We should start a new thread about why we didn't draft Franklin. ;)
Please no!!!

By the way did anybody here read the article on the Hawks and their 'Operation Buddy' and how he requires constant off field monitoring. Bit of a handful I'd say.
