Memo: Terry Wallace

Officiating poor,no doubt but despite that, we had the game with 1/2 qtr to play.

We should have played to win the match rather than not to lose it.I'll cut us some slack if the team were physically spent but if was a tactical move, well,we goofed,as it gave the Dockers the sniff we weren't looking to hurt them on the scorebaord anymore...

gee the ferals always come out when we lose don't they? losing this week is not the end of the world, especially after knocking over adelaide and geelong the previous 2 weeks. . beating freo would have been a huge bonus. it just hurt because a few of the things that happened was out of our control.

but lets move on... we have 2 winnable games before the bye. we could go into the bye with a 7-5 record. that would mean we would need to win half of our games in the run home with a stack of home games at the G to come...

Hopefully Gas will be better for the run, may play on Thompson this week ?
Well, if he does, the mids & other defenders better make sure they clog the corridor this time. Last year, Thomson had the entire corridor right upto the 50m line to lead into. No-one would drop into that space to stop it. Gas didn't stand a chance with the supply of footy that came down during that game.

I thought Gas and Rayzor were quite serviceable too.

Rosy, servicable isnt good enough any more. We are on the cusp of something special with our kids. We need some class on the backline and should be developing it now!!!! Gaspar is not the future. Hall Im still a fan of.

Just got home from the game (on TV) and feel gutted by this loss!  When are the coaching staff to realise that you CANNOT play Gaspar and Hall in the same side.  If we do this again we will lose every week inc. this week against the Kangaroos.  Nothing against them as Footballers, but everytime one of them gets the ball I cringe!  Our style of game just doesnt suit two guys in the backline that cant kick..
Also, G Stafford must not play again this year or ever for that matter.  Just does not do the hard things like chase and tackle.
May as well bring in Hughes or Jackson to exert some physical pressure.  Oh well thats my say.  Cheers

Overreaction.

Even my wife a Carlton supporter who happened to be watching the game even though I was at a amtes place thought we were robbed byt the umpires. Mainly Pettifer getting reported and giving away 50 (that was the worst by a mile), he will get off that easily adn then the 50 metre penalty wil lbe hsown to be a joke,k Polo not being paid the mark or a free at the end was a disgraceful decision at a crucial time. There is one other that irked me that I cannot put a finger on now. Totally disgraceful umpiring effort and possibly the worst against Richmond I ahve ever seen.

Being paid a goal after Razor touched it.
Petts deliberate out of bounds.

we were robbed and the home ground umpiring effect was in full swing.

Yeah it was the Pettifer deliberate out of bounds. That was the worst decision i nthe history of football as far as im concerned. Now they are not allowing you to kick it forward into your own 50 in case it goes over the line and an umpire with the power he has feels it may be deliberate. Over officiating such as that is what is wrong with teh AFL not coaches tactics. What a disgraceful interpretation of arule that decision was.

AS for Hall touching it, I could not tell from the TV angles so am going to have to take the goal umpires judgement on that one.

Whilst it seemed like a pretty crazy decision, it's pretty obvious where they are heading with this...
Stay tuned for the rule where whoever was the last one to touch it before it goes out of bounds gives the other team a free kick. Ala soccer, basketball etc.
Unless you make a genuine effort to keep the ball in play players will be penalised. Eventually it will be all about making sure the ball remains in play.

Didn't see the game, was out in the bush far from reception.  But I reckon a real blight on the game is the umpires tendency to pay a marginal out of bounds when it has the most potential to have an impact on the outcome.  You see it time and again and it drives me mental.
