Sitting here listening to the radio and just stunned at how mentally inept the playing group are.
Any one with half a brain would have realised that Essendon would come out hard in the 3rd quarter, so the pressure would be on with the Tigers leading by 16 points at half time.
Sure enough the Bombers played hard physical football and what happened YET AGAIN Richmond players went to pieces.
By the 16 minute mark of the last quarter the Bombers were 37 points in front, almost a 10 goal turnaround. Richmond players were panicking all over the place yet again.
Just WTF is Jeff Bond the so called you beaut you can't bend it General Manager of Player Development doing with his specialty of "Mental Toughness" and these players.
Mentor programme, I seriously doubt one exists, I just can't imagine a mentor programme that would see this sort of continuing rubbish we witness week in week out on the football field I simply can't.
God they are soft these players, soft as melted butter but they'd taste worse.
Bond needs a bloody good kick up his arse, I for one do not give a rats arse that he's done 22 years as a Sports Psychologist at the AIS blah blah blah, he is clearly failing with this group of players when it comes to mental toughness.
Christ, its well and good to blame Wallace, blame the players, but when a club has employed a so called expert for almost 18 months in the field of mental toughness and the players continually fail to handle any sort of pressure that is applied to them on the field, then clearly the club has failed enormously in its player development programme and the weak link in all this is quite clearly the over paid General Manager of Player Development who should be shown the door and the sooner the better.
The players are nothing more than a rabble, when things are running their way fine, the weak links in their mental composure do not show up, but the moment the other team get their own house in order and apply pressure our mob raise the white flag.
I don't call this tanking, I call this a lack of pride, discipline, teamwork and a belief in one's own abilities. Terry Wallace, Jeff Bond, Steven Wright (who employed Bond) and the football deparment have got one hell of a lot of answering to do.
Come to think of it so has the Board of Management and the sooner they get cracking the better because this has gone beyond the joke.
The HUN is gunna love this, no doubt about it.
