Message to RFC footy Department

A young player who is obviously not that great since he is relying on being taken in the PSD, could never match what cousins has to offer us, as long as we are allowing a spot to JON on the list, then the cousins drafting shouldnt even be questioned with doubt.

Let's not let get facts in the way of a good rant.

We always said we were going to the PSD for a kid.
On Friday we made an application to get Polak on the rookie list to give us another PSD shot.
While nothing was said by RFC officially, it was presumed by most, probably correctly, that if we could secure a 2nd slot, we'd give Cousins a shot.
The AFL didn't approve the application so we're right back where we started.

Where are the multiple backflips ?

RFC NEVER said they would take Cousins at 6. They always said they were going for a kid. They saw the opportunity to try one on with the AFL but that was rejected. The plans remain the same. Nothing has changed.

cameron said under no circumstances would richmond take cousins, then we would take him at 6, and now we get an answer today from cameron "oh its unlikely we will take him but we wont have a meeting about it" and heavens above tonight at punt road theres a board meeting.

Again, don't let facts get in the way.

Cameron said Cousins wasn't part of our plans. If you can find a "no circumstances" quote I'll gladly retract everything I said.
We never said we would take him at 6. Again, show any quote that says that anywhere.
Last I heard there is no Board Meeting tonight. The Football department is meeting as far as I am aware, not the board.

Anything else you want to make up and then get angry about ?

who says im getting angry i have an opinion on the matter ? ok your correct on pick six i was meant to say 7 , either way its still a back flip as far i see it no matter what the circumstances , and whatever meeting it was tonight cousins would have been discussed .

Go get him,

Contrary to popular opinion, football is not life and death, it is a game, a game that stirs passions and this week has stirred more passions than I can remember.
So what if we take him and he screws up, just more to post about,
So what if we become laughing stocks, haven't we been so for the past 26 years ?
So what if he is our next Kent Kingsley, Patrick Bowden et al, he just joins an elite of non elite Richmond footballers..

Yes, he is a risk, to himself, the RFC and the impressionable young playing group, but all life is about risks, it is up to the seniors in the club, players and officials to manage the risks.

If we dont take Cousins I wouldn't tear up my season ticket, but I might just cancel my Broadband because the web sites would revert back to the utmost dull Jan-Feb boredom.

Go get him, it will be one hell of an interesting year whatever the outcome

Pertinent points.

I was listening to an EPL pundit here in London who is a mad Chelsea supporter - always has been. He was talking about how they're not a bigger club than ManU, Liverpool or Arsenal. He went on to say that while it's been nice to win a couple of titles recently, it makes no real difference to his life. Whether they win, lose, draw, are good, bad, ugly, poor or rich, he's still gonna go each week and be a Chelsea fan. That's just what he is - a Chelsea fan.

I think whatever happens at the RFC tomorrow, the next day, next year, good, bad, crap, Premiers, wooden spooners, we're all still gonna be Tiger fans who go to the footy to watch Richmond.

And whether we like it or not, that's how it's always gonna be.

Firstly - the list management has again been terrible. seriously, how are we even in this position?
Secondly, this is pick six in the PSD we are talking about. I doubt we would have 50 threads that run on for pages debating the relative merits of two rookies.
On this basis, i think we should take cousins. As a complete punt his upside is high. Yep, downside could be big too. No arguing that. I don't think this is pick one in the real draft and if you are going to take a punt, now is the time to do it.
If they stick with the plan (and get best available rookie, not Gourdis) I will take that too. Not worth stressing about either way really.
I would encourage everyone to support the player either way, whoever he is, because he is going to have the Tambling effect hanging over him and needs to worry about the future, not couldabeens and whatifs. Same goes for the club. They have managed themselves into a corner (AGAIN) and must now make a decision many are not going to like. Lets get on with 2009!
Finally, the list management is terrible, how are we even in this position?

DO cave in!
The old plan was not as good as this one
just because we thought of this plan at the last minute doesn't mean its wrong!
pick 6 is still a good way
more than worth the risk at pick 6
we all cared a week ago but thought you we're not interested BUT NOW WE ARE!
it was a good try so lets go to plan C! (pick 6)
GO TIGERS IN 2009!
Exactly
