thats a fair reply. the way i look at it he bought 43 players to the club. only 4 went on to be long term and i wouldnt say they were good long term players. granted gale hogg free campbell knights and pickering were developed in kbs time but whoever coached was going to develop them.

Not sure you can say this. If you are implying he had no hand in their development and that they would have become the players they were regardless, then the same must be said for all the players who didn't make it under his coaching.

just a point of interest the 95 preliminary final squad im not 100% sure but northey picked about 80% to 90% of that squad or bought those players to the club.it took him 3 yrs to turn a rabble into a finals sidealbeit an over achieving finals side.players he didnt bring were free knights campbell gale naish daffy and turner.
losing northey was a blow i believe he was probably the only one at the club who knew where we were really at.

the draft started in 86. from 1986 to 2007 the club has produced just 18 100 plus game players give or take one or two.the list of those 100 game players doesnt make for pretty reading most were just plain average at best and some like krakouer should not have lasted 2 yrs.we are the worst performed club in the comp since 1986 its getting our hands on 100+ game players of quality where we have to improve out of sight.

anyway to me kb is just one of a long line of failed coaches who had no vision.if ever a coach had to be sacked it was kb.

It certainly is a long line. KB came close to breaking it but didn't quite succeed. Northey broke the streak but jumped ship far too early.

It's been a long 25 years.

Should be a Club rule/directive. No trading away early picks ie not in the first 2 (or 3) rounds, regardless who is available, probably lose out on someone but its clearcut and saves trading away, or being seen as a "wheeler dealer". Just keep early picks and use them wisely
Poor Recruiting is the Richnond Promblem, and still is after the best Recruiting in 2007 in years, as it takes a few years for young players to develop, more so for taller players like Rucks, and Key Position Talls, who you will need in place to develop the Midfield players.
We go after Midfilders in Recruiting first, then worry about Rucks and Key Position next, which to me is wrong.
If you want a really good team, Recruit the Rucks first, as they take a Longer time to develop( we have Angus Graham,
Adam Pattison, Dean Putt, and Tristan Cartledge and all are still developing).
Key Position we have ( Cleve Hughes, Jack Riewoldt, Jay Schulz,Alex Rance, David Gourdis, and Jarrod Silvestor all still developing.
Midfield we have Foley, Cotchin, Edwards, Kane Johnson,Tuck, Couglan, Collins, jackson etc
Looking at this we still are some time off before we can win.
