Mid to Late Season Burnout?

A simple question.

Our Preseason has been very intense this year from what I've heard. More so than previous years.

Will this Have a negative effect and cause a flat spot mid year? Or will it give us more of an edge all year?

Am I worried about nothing?

Or simply am I just over stating the extreme Pre-season we seem to be having?

THOUGHTS ON THIS.

I think RFC has been a bit behind in previous years in their preparation (BW - Before Wallace) maybe this pre-season is more intense, but I think that maybe even we supporters are not used to this from a Richmond side

perhaps.

I hope we do not burn out to early, but it is such a touchy thing, timing.

Considering we've faded from the midway point of every season for as long as I can remember, I wouldn't think an overly intense pre-season could do us any harm

Nah, I reckon the work 'em hard theory in the pre-season is a great idea. It sets the standard for the whole year and gives us a base of fitness.

It would be great to get off to a flyer this year as we did on 2005 so that we can get a spot in the 8 sorted out early.

Perhaps TW isn't after a start like last year's rnd1.

I also don't think it'll do us any harm.

Agree. We'll be ahead for next years pre-season anyway. Wasn't TW asked about burnout? I got the feeling from his answer that he wasn't sure what would happen and we'll have to wait and see.

The mid-season fade away of the past is probably more due to the mental side of things (considering training was much less intense).

Now that it is intense we may be able to overcome that mental side of things (need to do this for finals) and if we STILL fade out then at least we have done it due to working ourselves into the ground.

Work the team into the ground for 2007, shine on in 2008 ;)

Yeah mate....time for the kids and the team to really get fair dinkum this year.......
endurance and intensity to mix with passion and ambition...and to learn to love the challenge.......

Last Pre season involved a lot of 3+ hour sessions in 30+ degree heat this year not many sessions have gone past 2 hours but the have been a lot more intense.
Forgetting past years where we just no good I think the fade outs have been not just caused directly to the fitness based built in the pre season but the fact we have had key injurys to key players an had so many underdeveloped kids in the team who have burned out .

This squad looks very fit an strong right now an if we are good enough I wouldnt think we would fade out.
