Midfield Rotation - 07

Their has been so much talk about our midfield whether its skills, pace or who should be in the guts, its time we have more rotation...

So many times tuck or cogs were made to shoulder the load personally i think the coaching panel need to have more trust in the younger guys as to leave them in their longer.

My first 3 would be Tuck, Foley, lids, next 3, Blingers, Johno, Howat then Newman, Krak and Raines... im sure we could go on and add polo in there too but polo perhaps best suited to HB/Wing and Hyde maybe wing/HF.

Who "else" would you like to see in the midfield, ive named Raines and Newy in their too, i think both of them would give us another dimension.

I think Polo would be in there, especially if he has a run with role. Others to go in the rotation are Brown, Oakley-Nicholls and Tivendale.

We also need a ruckman or two in there occassionally (not Tucky either).

Not sure you can just pick your best midfielders to start, then have your second stringers come in and so on. Matchups play a key role, form, injury and the game plan dictate who will rotate through.

One thing that has had me thinking that is that if Raines is to get a run in the rotation, then Shane Edwards needs to get his spot in the back half. No point putting Polo, Hyde, Newman back into small defender role. We know they can do it, let's put the kids in like the WCE do (Beau Waters, Troy Selwood, Matt Rosa, spring to mind, the Eagles won a flag last year and blooded another three or four likely types besides those above in there back half who will be mids ) and start to build the list.

Same with the forwards, give Jack and Cleve Kingsley's proposed role.

Damn i knew i forgot someone Browny, definitely! Good point scoop the eagles tend to blood their midfielders from no where and that’s the point im trying to make id like to see more midfield rotation.

BBC yeah simmonds is a given, i was more mentioning the running types.

Would love to see Raines given free licence in the centre to take on all comers!!

Couldn't agree more KOTJ, we tend to miss that long penetrating kick out of the center and raines is one who i think can do that.
