The great brisbane sides had 4-5 stars in the midfield with some pretty handy types being able to change thru their as well. Ditto westcoast. Sydney almost have a team of midfielders.
So what have we got. Maybe not a lot of depth in their. So this year has to be about developing a 7-8 blokes who can run thru the midfield. Imo Wallace has been recruiting outside quick running types, so will be quite interesting to see what kind of midfield we end up with.
9/10 Browny I think he may be used a bit on ball this year,will add some class
7/10 sugar Has become an effective tagger. doesn't get it a lot.
?/10 foley has his chance to become a very important cog in the team.
6/10 Tucky Dropped off a bit last year, got a feeling he will do better.
5/10 krack had a good preseason lets hope for some consistancy.
6/10 lids Really need him to go up a gear and run the lines more.
6/10 Tambo Same as delidio. Really need these boys to show the way.
5/10 Harts Tough nut who should be thrown in now. Sink or swim.
6/10 newman Hard body could be used in bursts
?/10 connors not ready
?/10 edwards ditto connors
6/10 Raines Wil get a chance at some stage in the future.
7/10 polo He shows a lot. will be a star
This is definately our achilles heel, no wonder last year we got smashed by 100 points a few times, doggies,swans,eagles and saints would smash us in this area.
last year we lost cogs/newman/browny foley was under developed, lids and bling too immature, krack too lazy, gee alot was left to sugar and tucky.
If we are to improve this year, foley,lids,bling have to step and start making an impact in the guts. Tucky and sugar will need to show plenty of leadership in there. Browny and krack need more than a few little cameos.
In summary a few of our boys that are about 5 or 6 out of 10 need to bring their performances up to 7-8.
