Leysy amongst some others has been on the mids bandwagon for a long long time. In his opinion they are easily the most important ingredient to sustained success. The top table is near irrefutable that getting lots of good quality ball forward brings success.

Note: Aker, Lappin, Voss, Black supported by Power, Ashcroft, Hart, McRae etc. Or

Ablett, Bartel, Ling, Chapman backed by Corey, Selwood, Kelly, Enright & so on.

If you make it an absolute priority to get 3-4 ELITE mids surrounded by another 4-5 A GRADERS (or close to) your 90% on the way to a legitimate premiership chance in leysys view.

Sure you've got to have adequate height & structure in place, but they need not be stars but strong competitive creatures like Mooney, Harley or Leppitch, Michael, Lynch etc. Scarlett & Brown were the one Key position star in each team. Leysy hasn't even bothered showing West Coast as we all know they're the most blatant example of elite mids driving success around average key position footballers.

Now, we're gettin close to banking Foley, Lids & Chimp. If we can make it our priority to snare one more ELITE mid & surround them by good strong A graders around the guts as relief (& we've got a few that "could") then things could get interesting at tigerland.
