Miller on SEN now

geez it looks like it will be official the mcmahon deal is another miller stuff up. in effect richards fanning cartledge etc for pick 19.

Well what if we take Gourdis Claw? Won't seem so bad to say Gourdis effectively for pick 19 will it. :hihi

Outrageous claim there Bob. Ridiculous to link Cam Howat and the club's under-achievement over the last quarter of a century.

I think there are more than a few Darksiders >:D here with delusions of grandeur. Let's not forget that we finished last. So a bloke (who I think went all right) who is breaking onto the list of the worst performing side in the comp. should get a look in at another club?!! Get a grip people! But that doesn't mean he isn't worth a rookie spot for us.

if he isnt good enough for any other clubs list then why should we have him?

rfc - mediocrity

If we pick up Gourdis tomorrow in the PSD then think of it this way;
Pick 2 - Cotchin
Pick 18 - Rance
Pick 19 - Gourdis
Pick 51 - Putt
PSD1 - McMahon

For those who think of it logically, the PSD pick had to be left open in case a big name fell through. Imagine if we had committed to McMahon in the PSD and then all of a sudden the likes of Rutten or Adcock were available. We would then be the laughing stock of the AFL. And not to mention Pre would go into meltdown. Sometimes I think that Mundine posts on this site. Says things for the sake of getting attention.

Good Post Smokin Joe. If we get Gourdis then you would have to say we have had a good trade/draft period without even considering who we might pick up as a rookie.

Utter hogwash - retrospective drafting & manupulative justification at best.

Look at it in real time - Selwood was available at 19 and Gourdis was not nationally drafted at all.

Simple ... it was a poor trade that cannot be justified on a needs nor list management basis. If Howat is re-rookied that would then compound the issue give the current Richmond 2008 list 4 players that are left sided, one-dimensional players in Tivva, Hyde, Sanchez & Howat.

Why did we never take a look at Hockey?

Pfieffer,gimme a break.

Agree, this is staggering. Was super clean durring the TAC finals and showed a ability to play inside and outside. Essendon will grab him and send him to Bendigo. I don't mind going with one reject (Collard) on the rookie list but not not two.

no mcmahon is not required. sheesh pick 19 on a soft outside squib we dont need when we could have had him for prctically nothing.
when we took him at 19 i thought well well we are targeting someone good in the psd. i never learn do i i knew better but let myself be sucked in again. one word describes the mcmahon trade incompetence.
Once again Claw you let your hatred towards GM get the better of you.Outside Nick Stevens name me one player of quality that has slipped through to the PSD?Would a simple thing called karma come into play? What if we commited to mcmahon in the PSD and then all of a sudden a Ben Rutten walks out of the crows.Geez we,d look pretty stupid wouldnt we in giving up the #1 position in the PSD a month earlier. ::)

exactly, you hold on to pick 1 just in case
the price we had to pay was giving 19 for a good player
in hindsight we would have loved to take a kid with 19 but not at the risk of taken 1st pick in the PSD....
we are all experts after the fact

I think that GM was watching Hockey in recent years - which explains our poor drafting...............

after the fact?

i clearly remember before the sanchez deal was confirmed how many were saying to send him to the psd because you dont give up top 20 picks for blokes like him

hindsight is a wonderful thing and it tells me most people were against it before the deal even went through, it had nothing to do with what was available in the draft

Just on choosing Howat being an indication of incompetence, haven't West Coke now chosen Wilkes as a rookie for the 3rd time? Are they incompetent and unable to make a hard call as well?

2 differences between Howat and Wilkes: 1. Wilkes is a KPP so should be given more time and 2. Howat has shown what he has (or hasn't) got at AFL level whereas Wilkes hasn't.

Fine darth, whatever.

if mcmahona nd howat are that bad then great- we need to chop someone for next years big (not super) draft.
