Here is MY tip. Cubs WILL make the playoffs with just a bit of luck. Not the luck is something we generally come across in spades mind you.
Disco, time to change the title of the thread I think- maybe 'The Year of the Cubs' or '2007 - World Series Wrigley'

Thats hope over expeirence if I've ever heard it Hutts!

Lilly had an impressive start, a 3 hit, 1 walk 9 strikeout win.
Good stuff :fing32

Two away wins on the bounce :) against the brew crew.

Hill had a masterful 7 inning 2 hit no walk outing and the Cubbies hit 6 in the first and win 9-3.
Big Z backs it up with a 6-3 win the next day and we go to 2nd.

Good start......GO CUBBIES!

Red (or anyone else) here's a little look at Matsuzaka's first game.

Yep. Very encouraging first up performance Duckman.

I read an article in the Sporting News about him and this supposed “gyroball” of his. Quite interesting.

He certainly has a good repetoire whether you believe the “gyroball” exists or not.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Yes indeed. Don't think he threw the gyro in his first start, but with the number of breaking balls he threw at different speeds I wasn't really sure what I was looking for. Very Pedroesque the way he set up hitters with his offspeed stuff then blew them away with the FB. I can see him hitting 95-96 later in the year when he and the weather warm right up, which could be devastating. And he's only 26. :banana

Great performances from Curt and particularly Paps yesterday. Now it's time to start hitting and put a few wins back to back at home. 3-3 wasn't too bad to start the year on the road but the bats were dismal.

Yep, agree on all fronts.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Hmmm…big win today Ducko in the home opener. Beckett looks like he must have pitched well. JD Drew going ok (so far !)

Yeah.....Dice-K. Will have to record that.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Yeah, can't miss it.

Beckett hitting mid 90's in cold weather is a good sign. He mixed in the curve nicely too. I reckon he'll enjoy and learn alot from having a guy like Matsuzaka around.

Absolutely. They say Beckett's repetoire is a bit limited and that he relies too much on his fastball and doesnt do enough in the way of other stuff, so if he's mixing in a good curve, that sounds promising.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

A-Rod has 6 jacks in 7 games.

Does anyone know if he has different instructions when hitting this year?
Or his he looking to get out of the pinstripes and get another record deal?

What are the odds for Drew lasting out the season without an injury?

Washington have lost there last 5 games, another 155 odd games to go but they look shocking.

Our winter season kicks of this weekend. Got the first spot in the rotation this year. Im stoked.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Nice Matt. Good luck. What pitches do you throw?

Drew will be fine. PayRod will be PayRod when the really big games roll around. :)

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Hey Ducko, I was reading last night that Clement is expected back mid Summer. What impact (if any) do you think he might have ? Forgotten man a bit ?

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Hopefully only mop up or trade chip Red. If the rotation needs him by them we're in trouble.

Today's game is on delay if you're taping, 12.30ish start after the NBA.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Supposedly an absolute gem by King Felix.

A no-no into the eighth, that ended as a one hit shut-out.

This guys awesome, I hope there's a replay tonight.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Giants flying at 2 and 7.Wont see much of them on TV this year.
