Not really. I just hate the Stink. Every other team I'm not that fussed about in terms of liking them or not.

But when you are a Wolverines man, you despise both Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Hey Red, Why Michigan?

Just always loved the Wolvies since I was a kid when I started reading Sports Illustrated magazines. All the stories on them, the history, Bo Schembechler etc.

Go Big Blue !

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Hmm. Dicey seems to have pitched well again (except for a 38 pitch 4th !), and the Red Sox out hit the Jays, but cant quite get it done.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Yeah ugly game from the bats. Tek swinging at ball four about 2 feet off the plate and grounding into a double play to end the inning with two men on and Chacin struggling really summed it up. Dice was good, just lost control momentarily but fought back well. He was unhittable at times as ten K's indicates.

On a lighter note, check this out. Funny *smile*.

Haaaargh haaaaaargh haaaaargh !!! That is hilarious ! "Boston Red Sox Fan Throws Pizza" Hah hah hah hah.....

And you know, I had one of those pizza slices at Fenway last year, and as you can see, they are massive ! What a waste ! The bloke just couldnt help himself, he just had to throw it.

And how's the commentators on NESN when they come back from the break ? One of them is uncontrolably giggling away like a little school boy in the background. And then there's all the surrounding fans on their mobiles ringing their friends to say: "Hey, check me out on NESN with the pizza thrower !"

Hah hah hah....just brilliant. A very Fenway moment if you ask me.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Remy and Orsillo are worth the price of MLBTV alone. Apparently the story is that the guys who had beer spilt all over them had been giving the pizza thrower *smile* about eating a whole pizza to himself. So when he saw his chance he took advantage.

I thought the funniest bit was them calling him the Fan Of The Game while he's on camera letting expletives fly at the thrower. :rofl

Hah hah hah...as I say, very Boston-ish...very Fenway i.e. blokes hanging sh*t on someone, then that person seizing the moment and retaliating...BIG TIME ! Hah hah hah...I just cant stop laughing at that thing. I've watched it a few times over now.

Red Sox fans remind me so much of Richmond fans at a game. So passionate, aggressive, rude, funny, lovable...the works. Very entertaining.

Did I ever tell you that I managed to get my boof head on NESN ? They do the pre-game show out on Yawkey Way down towards the bottom end right next to a big beer tent. Eckersley, Remy etc. are always out there doing it in amongst the crowds. Anyway, I'd had a few brews and I thought what the hell, I'll get a bit closer to all this and find out whats going on. I went up to the stage they were working on, leaned over the back behind Eckersley whilst the camera was on him and he was talking, gave the big cheesy grin and darted off before their security could grab me.

Hah hah hah...I'm pretty sure my bonce has been transmitted to the entire New England area !

"Sweeet Caroliiiiiine da-da da.....good times never seem so good...SO GOOD ! SO GOOD ! "

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Haha, that's gold. You should have yelled something like "Gaspar's a dud!!!".

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Nice. Closest I got was some old bag at Wrigley yelling "you can't do that!" "You can't do that!" as I was leaning over the Cub bullpen wall chatting to Turk Wendell. They threatened to chuck me out but a whole bunch of dudes that I had befriended (using the power of beer) helped me out and they let me stay. Turk signed a ball for me when I explained that I was from OZ and that I thought he was a righteous dude. Best day ever, I got to go in the WGN box and meet Harry Caray and Steve Stone. The boys even won with Randy Myers nailing down the save for Jaime Navarro! Ah, the good old days.

Did you go to Harry Caray's restaurant ? Awesome. One of the best I've ever been to. (Mike Ditka's isnt bad either.)

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

6 hours of baseball on the way for me today. Wake to make !@#$%# Toronto look terrible then feet up and watch this year's AL Cy Young dominate again.

I hope you're right, but a knuckleballer pitching indoors ? Dunno. What is his record like in Toronto ?

Lugo seems to be travelling ok so far Duckamn. I watched the 8-1 win over LLA last night and he made a couple of very nice plays.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

3 year average at Rogers is 5.09ERA, 2-1 record. One bad start really pushed that ERA up though.

Yeah really liking Lugo so far. Looks confident at the plate and in the field. Also, like Drew seems to have settled in well and is playing within himself, not pushing to impress their new fanatical fans.

Shitty start for the bats yet again though. :veryupset

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

King Felix leaves due to injury in the first after already giving up 2 runs.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Hmmm. Mark Buehrle throws a no-hitter. Great stuff.

Red Sox get it done today Ducker. Wake pitches well.

Big Papi starting to warm up now Ducks. If Manfred can hit his straps, then him, Big Papi and JD Drew will present a formidable threat at the plate.

Gee, I tell you what though, there’s still plenty of room for improvement on offense. What’s going on with Crisp ? (And what about Cora over your boy Peds at the moment too Duckers, not just at the plate, but range etc ?)

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

Yeah, defnitely a few question marks still. I think they'll give them to say 50 or 60 games to really assess. The cold weather obviously doesn't help the hitters but some of the swings I've seen would look terrible no matter what the weather.

Pedroia will be fine. He's just going through a patchy start getting used to MLB. He's handled every step up so far. I haven't thought his defense has been anything to worry about, did you read/see something about it?

Yeah, he copped a bit of a pasting in a scouting report I read. I think it was in the Sporting News from memory. They said he was sort of Eckstein-ish (geez I'm sick of hearing that comparison....you'd think they could come up with someone else every now and then) and that he was a proven player at farm level, but that he lacked smarts at the plate at MLB level, was slow and no base stealing threat and that his range and arm was average as well.

Re: MLB 2007 - Say NO to Clemens

I think they've got it totally wrong frankly. He was defensive player of the year playing SS in college (offensive player of the year in 05 playing for Portland) and has looked comfortable to me this year. He's no threat on the bases but that means very little. He's still a pretty good baserunner, reads the play well. I prefer the comparison to Giles over the comparison to #$%^@# Eckstein. ;D

Now, what chances of Tavarez beating Halladay tomorrow? 20/1? Either way we could get a good result though actually. If he loses we might see Gabbard brought up for a look. He's tearing up AAA.

At least we have Schilling, Beckett and Dice to take on the MFY over the weekend.

Awesome!!

Turk was our closer when I became a Cub fan.
I loved his carefree demenour, and that jiggy walk he strutted after a save.
The man was a pioneer for silly dangly necklaces too....makes me happy to hear his name again.

If you've met the late great Harry Caray then im truly in awe!
That is gold :nodyes
One of the most revered figures in baseball....good work there Judge.
Jamie Navarro eh?
First game I saw at Wrigley he was pitching and he went yard!
By then Turk was the No1 closer and the great Myers had gone.

The start of an obsession though.........
