Huge homerun by Youk to win it and keep the road trip on the tracks. As if his .450 OBP wasn't enough. I really am starting to get a serious man-crush on this guy.

Papelbon's not bad either, 20 saves in 20 chances and 1 run allowed in 28 innings.  :hearton

You need to move to Sydney to complete yourself Patsy.

Big thanks to Scott Rolen :clap
Your 9th inning error allowed the Cubs 2 runs to tie the game, and we got the job done in an epic Cubs-Red Turds 14th innings classic.
In front of the new Busch stadium attendance record too. :hihi

Re: MLB 2006

More bad news for the Red Turds.
On the back of their first losses (2-1) to the Cubbies at Busch,Fat Albert has hurt himself and might be out for a stretch.
Here's hoping it means some losses and they slip up for a while.

Re: MLB 2006

There's no way they can keep up the pace with Pujols out. The question is can anyone in the division keep the pressure on them?

Re: MLB 2006

We can only hope this game has a similar effect that Game 3 in the 2004 ALCS had.

Re: MLB 2006

After taking two of three games from NL East division leader New York over a rainy, wearying weekend at Shea Stadium and flying six hours back to California, the Giants throttled Florida, 14-2, on Monday at AT&T Park with an 18-hit barrage and gold-plated pitching.

PS Bonds >the Bambino

Re: MLB 2006

What a day for the Zeetrain against the Asstrolls.
A no hitter into the 8th that sadly ended with a grounded 1st base hit,but got a one hitter and a blank....and there's more!!!! 4 RBis and a home run :o.

Go Zeeeeeeetrain!!!

The only downside is he didn't bean anyone or threaten any Houston 'bitches' :hihi

Geez you blokes are stressing after one loss to Wank town....Jeters out and you'll bounce back hard.
Hate to admit it,but Mussina is coming good......8-1 this year :(

Re: MLB 2006

The Cubs did everyone a favour today Struggs. The Sprocket, spanked like a little boy who's spilt Father Bob's tea whilst trying to end his teams 4 game losing streak which is virtually ending their chances of post season glory. I couldn't think of a better way for Roger to return.

:clap

Now come on Dave Pauley.

Re: MLB 2006

Ahhhhhhh Chicago............

Took a outfielder projected to go @ pick 170 by Baseball America @ pick 13.

Still, couldn't be another Corey Patterson could he??..............could he??  :(

Re: MLB 2006

Yeah interesting choice, but I'd trust Tim Wilken after his good work with Toronto. It wasn't a very good draft at all so this was the year to use an early pick like that.

The Sox draft so far could go either way depending on whether or not they can sign guys like LaPorta and Anderson. They missed out on Clemens so I hope they throw the cash at these guys who could really help the Sox in an area their farm really needs it, power hitters. Red, I'd post some info on the Sox draftees here but it's all there at SoSH.

I can't believe the great start by Pauley today went to waste. Again Francoma leaves his starter in 1 or 2 batters too long and the cost is very high. And how the *smile* does a chump like Joe Torre's Wang keep a lineup like that to 1 run?

Baseball is back on ESPN too BTW, in case you missed it.
