MLB 2012 - Giants Win!!

Re: MLB 2006

NYY pitcher Cory Lidle dies in a bizarre plane accident at age 34.

Seems he had just acquired his light plane licence and went flying around New York City with a friend when he lost control of the aircraft and hit a high rise hotel.
4 confirmed dead. :(

I was watching him pitching in the AL division championships just on Tuesday night.......very sad way for a young athlete to die. :'(

In better news, Detroit roll back to the motor city with a 2-0 lead up their sleeve courtesy of an 8-5 win in Oakland today.
Came from 3-0 down to rumble home and seems they are World Series bound.........but then again, I remember 2003 all too well  :'( :'( :'( >:( >:( >:(

Re: MLB 2006

The Tigers are going to the World Series Bubbles, don’t worry about that. Their pitching is awesome. And they will be playing your arch enemy the Cards.

Like I said, It seems they are, but I thought the same thing when a side did the same in 03 :-[

I reckon the Metrosexuals will beat the Red Turds too.

Detroit/NYM World Series.

Go Tigers.

Re: MLB 2006

3-0 in game three, and that makes it 3 zip ;D

One more win and we are there :clap

I am the second happiest man in the world atm.

Kenny is an out & out champion :spin

Re: MLB 2006

A sweep for the Motor City Kittys with a 6-3 win in game 4.
Lets hope the momentum continues into the WS.

The red turds are now leding their series after winning today too :flush

In bigger news ;D the Cubbies have interviewed former player and lifelong fan Joe Giradi for the managers job.

Former D-Backs boss Bobby Brenly and Lou Pinella :o are also going to be interviewed.

Reports again that Mark Cuban is again sniffing about to buy the Cubs......we can dream huh?

Re: MLB 2006

Great to see a Tiger team with the winning habit , 8 on the trot. Hope they've got at least another 4 such in them . Encouraging to see their repeated quick& emphatic response whenever challenged/scored against.

Re: MLB 2006

Yeah. A Tigers team winning. That's something. Although the Melbourne Tigers are the reigning NBL Champs, I suppose.

I hope they go all the way.

Re: MLB 2006

Ends up 12-5 to NYM.

Split @2-2 now.
Next up Glavine and Weaver backing up after just 4 days going head to head.

C'mon old man, give that young snapper a lesson in game 5!

Re: MLB 2006

Good grief...Lou Pinella!!!!!

Well, it won't be boring anyhow

Sentimentally it would have been nice to have Joe Giradi, but the brass have gone for experience.
He is a nutbag though, no doubt.

Yeah, safe option i suppose. We will see if he can insire some decent trading, drafting and spending.

Re: MLB 2006

I dunno if it is a safe option though Pizza Hutstar. As Bubbles says, Pinella is a nut case. Can go off his brain and be a difficult character to manage.

He had some success with Seattle but couldn’t get them to a World Series just the same. And his tenure in Tampa was very ordinary.

Still, he’s not bad tactically and is one of those traditional managers in the mould of Leyland etc. so you never know.

I understand the Cubbly Cubs also spoke to Francona ?

I wonder what the Stink think of his appointment. Word was he was gonna take over from Torre.

Re: MLB 2006

Torre had his job reviewed last week and was sanctioned to continue, otherwise Pinella was tipped to take over.

I didn't know about Francona being sounded out ??

I knew of Brenly,Giradi,Pinella and a few internally but surely they couldn't afford Francona even if he was prepared to come over ??

At least I suppose Pinella will get stuck into them unlike Baker who defended the indefensible.

Yeah, a couple of weeks ago the media linked rumour web site that I log into reported in one of the papers in Boston that the Cubberley Cubs were going to request to speak with Francona - who I thought had his contract extended at the start of the year. Anyway.

I didnt know that Torre had kept his job. Apart from watching the NLCS and ALCS on Fox, I havent really been reading the news the last week. Boy, that is very out of character for Steinbrenner. Good move though, imo.

Re: MLB 2006

Metrosexuals tie it up with the decider at Shea.
Young Maine for NYM gets the job done over Chris Carpenter :o 4-2.

Mets still haven't decided who will start,as will El Duque and Pedro injured, they may go to a reliever like Darren Oliver..........dangerous and not ideal in a cut throat ALCS decider.

Geez the Tribune must have given Pinella an undertaking to shell out a motza!!

We have been linked to A-Rod, Soriano,Schmidt and Zito!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL@the stingebags reporting that hype in their own paper when they know it'll never happen.

Bastards >:(

Re: MLB 2006

Cards beat the Mets 3-1, so now they play the Tigers in the WS.

Re: MLB 2006

BUGGER!!!

The Cards just kicked our ass 7-2 in game 1 :help

C'mon :gotigers

Re: MLB 2006

Week's break stalled the Tiger momentum.

Better progress in game 2 , 2-0 Tigers top of the 3rd...

I think you’re right, but they were back in the grove tonight. Had to watch the game on the net, work just gets in the way sometimes!

Monroe gave us the start we needed/wanted, he is on fire, 5 homers in the postseason now.

Kenny (Dirty Hand) Rogers has now stretched his postseason scoreless streak to 23 innings! Amazing pitching again, even if they thought he was cheating in the 2nd, gives absolutely nothing away (not even dirt!). Todd Jones pitched in the 9th when the game was as good as over, but the heart was in the mouth when Rolan scored.

3-1 in the end, and we didn’t have to lift a bat in the 9th.

1 - 1 split at home, and the next three games are at Busch Stadium, so hopefully we can win at least 2 of the next 3 there and then finish the job at home in game 6.

Great series so far… and GO TIGES’
