MLB 2012 - Giants Win!!

Re: MLB 2006

I was hoping the 10 hits to 1 but only 3-0 up wouldn't come back to bite Detriot and happily it didn't.

All square again....lets go Nate Robertson!

Right on... Nate away = Cards... no chance. Plays well away from home, ask the Wankees :hihi

We always (except for game 1) get out of the blocks okay with the bat, but we haven't been scoring much after the 5th for a while now.

Re: MLB 2006

Wicked to see some baseball talk
I was having kittens watching Todd Jones close today.
Kenny is a superstar!
Does anyone play in Vic state league on this board?

Re: MLB 2006

Cards win 5 zip for a 2-1 series lead.

Enough said, I'm off to lunch :beer to forget about this one.

Re: MLB 2006

Hmm. Interesting. Tiges are not out of it by any stretch but I've just had this feeling for a while now that Bonderman and Verlander peaked during the Yankee series. They looked shaky a couple of times against an average A's batting line up but got the job done. I think the Cards may just have enough at the plate to score a few on them though. Combine that with the Tiges lack of patience at the plate themselves so far in this series, and they could (stress could) be in a bit of trouble the 'ol Tigeroonies. Hope not. Want them to win.

(How good was Carpenter yesterday ?)

Re: MLB 2006

Game 4 rained out, and its not looking good over there until the weekend!

And yeah, we need the break, not looking good so far.

Everyone is having a crack at us for swinging the bat too much at the plate... but thats how we made it there in the first place. It's the old live by the sword, die by the sword atm though!

Our best 3 hitters Granderson, Polanco & Rodriguezare are 0 for 34. We need to start picking our balls to hit, they just swing at everything and will never die wondering, and as has been the case all season, we hardly ever walk. It's either outa there, or out.

Gee I hope we win though, I've been sorta banking on this as an omen for us (RFC) next season.

It was at around the same time that the RFC ended up on the bottom that Detroit had the 119 loss season, and I was kinda hoping that the reserection might coinside. Detroit winning the WS, and then the RFC winning the GF.

Oh, and Carpenter only threw 82 pitches in eight innings!!! Of those 82 pitches, he threw only 27 pitches called balls. The Tigers hitters swung at the rest of the balls. We only had two batters who lasted 5 pitches!

So yeah good pitching, but we were swinging at the first ball (and the rest) way too often.

Re: MLB 2006

Another solid start, 1-0 after two, 3-1 at the top of the 4th and then 3-2 in the 7th... ends up 4-5 :'(

I thought we had that one in the bag, but more 'slip ups' in the field cost us again >:(

And one for the history buffs... only six ML clubs have had 3-1 leads and lost the World Series, with 2 of the last 3 occasions happening to the Cards in circumstances that I certainly (hope) seem relevant now.

In 1968 the Cardinals had a 3-1 lead against the Tigers, so lets hope that history can repeat!

And that doesn't count the time in 96' when the Cards blew a 3-1 lead in losing the NL pennant to the Braves.

I'm really clutching at straws now aren't I? :-\

Re: MLB 2006

That was brutal today.....the Tigers lost it, the redturds were gifted the game.

Granderson falls over and a routine flyball catch becomes a double.
Then Fernando Rodney throws a simple dolly to first about 12 feet in the air above first base to score the tying run.

Things are looking mighty grim.

Lord give me strength, last year the White Sox and this year *smile* Louis...........good grief :help

Re: MLB 2006

We have lost the plot, thats the second time in as many games that the ball has been thrown to someone in the stands, rather than to the man on the plate. Its been like watching the Bad News Bears :help

Grandy must have been wearing the moulded soles, rather than the screw ins, but he still lifted half of the outfield on his boot :-[

I will be on the beers early tomorrow morning, and depending on the result, it could be a long day :beer

Re: MLB 2006

I'm still smarting, this will take some time to get over, all done in 5 games. Once it was 2-1 in the series, I thought that it was going to go down to the wire.

Too many mistakes by the Tiges, and more than enough food and drink to drown my sorrows! I'm about to pass out and thought that I would quickly check to see if anyone cares... but alas :(

The phone account got a good work out today, and my equine friends were good to me, but its little consolation :'(

Re: MLB 2006

Hmmm. Bubbles' arch enemies win the World Series.

Just average pitching and poor run production plus errors conspire to bring "Dah-trooooit' down.

Not quite, I at least respect the Red Turds for being able to win without the MFYs' obscene payroll.

Re: MLB 2006

Ivan Rodriguez (Detroit Tigers) won his 12th Gold Glove, extending his record for catchers, and Kenny Rogers won his fourth straight Gold Glove and fifth overall. Well done lads. :clap
