A couple of weeks ago I posted a thread looking at possible de-listings and retirements over the period 2006-2009 and to determine a possible future list for the club. The following team came up as a result. Putting possible numbers of games against each player (average of about 18-20 games per year) prior to finals 2009 is an interesting exercise:

Experience 2009 (prior to Finals)

FB: Raines(90) Thursfield(80) J Bowden(290)
HB: Casserley(70) *KP(06)( 50) Newman(170)
C: O-Nicholls(70) *M(06)( 50) *M(07)(30)
HF: Meyer(80) Schulz(90) P Bowden(150)
FF: Tambling(110) Hughes(70) *KP(07)(30)
R: Simmonds(200) Polo(70) Deledio(120)
INT: Brown(240) *R(07)(30) Hartigan(90) Pattison(80)

Av games per player = 103

Easily enough to be considered an experienced side with the bulk of the team (15) in their prime: 5-10 (between 70-200 games) bracket. There are two veterans (200+ games) and 5 novices (< 70 games). No rookies.

It gets even better the next year -

Experience 2010 (Finals)

FB: Raines(110) Thursfield(100) J Bowden(310)
HB: Casserley(90) *KP(06)(70) Newman(190)
C: O-Nicholls(90) *M(06)(70) *M(07)(50)
HF: Meyer(100) Schulz(110) P Bowden(170)
FF: Tambling(130) Hughes(90) *KP(07)(50)
R: Simmonds(220) Polo(90) Deledio(140)
INT: Pettifer(100) *R(07)(50) Hartigan(110) Pattison(100)

Av games per player = 115

There will be 18 prime players, 2 veterans and 2 novices. With a real bit of luck we may have a star rookie in there from the 2008 National Draft with a full 22 games under his belt.

I'm interested to know what you did with Foley, White & Hyde, also young Graham what's happened to him.

I love the trade with Tuck to the Dawks, that would of meant Tuck turned his 2006 season around and 2007 was a blinder?

Your thoughts!

Clearly none of them were able to offer as much as Patrick Bowden 8ball. :spin

No Tuck ?

Tuck slots in there easily enough. So does Cogs.

But I don't think we need a lot of duplication in our list and some or all of Tuck, Cogs, Polo, Foley, Hyde etc will have to be given up to get better balance.

Anyway, the exercise here was more to look at the level of experience we will have in the team around 2009 / 2010 if the recent recruits form the basis of our future team - as they will have to, if we want an experienced team by then.

too hard to predict. it will be a couple more years before we know if the kids have made it. i reckon richo will still be around in 2009

With all deference to the Brett Hartigan player president, Harts is looking eminently tradeable at the moment.

Not this year but 2007, so I believe he will be gone and replaced by White our No. 1 Tagger.

Banish all thoughts of trading Harts!
