Father/son recruiting is fine but let us not forget the importance of a good damline. Some examples:-
Shane Tuck - Son of a Gun X Sister of God
Jono Brown - his mother Mary is a sister to Noel Mugavin, former Fitzroy and Tigers player. Played for us in 1982. Missed much of season due to injury, including Grand Final but played in winning GF "replay" Commonwealth Games demonstration match. Another sister Jill married former Collingwood hero Billy "Cotton" Picken. I'm not sure if there are any prospective champions emerging from that match-up yet.
This breeding analysis may also explain why David Bourke and Rhett Bartlett did not exactly set the footy world on fire.
