Most Elite kicks in the league

Paul Broderick was a good kick as well ;)

Actually Matthew was much better. Unfortunately he was a bit too lightly built to make it, much like Craig Ednie in that department.
But his accuracy was second to none (...time to cut my considerable losses here and back out ever so slowly....._)

Decision making plays a big part in the kick, Chris Newman is great at finding the best option. His always picks the best option.

Brett Deledio puts away a set shot on most occasions.

Fevola is the best in the AFL, kicking a goal is harder than hitting a moving target.

Maybe because he belongs in the overrated thread.

Absolute garbage. Might be overrated as a player, but that's not what the question is. He's a great kick of the footy.

Apart from Lonthalion's nomination of Wheatley (who is a great long field kick of the footy) there's too many "media pumped" or standard names being throw around on this thread and not a lot of insight into some blokes who are a bit under the radar or less fashionable/obvious yet are genuinely great kicks of the footy. Just a few:

Brent Guerra. You dont kick out from FB for the premiers unless you're a gun kick. Hasn't been mentioned.
Paul Chapman. Check his field kicking out. Rarely misses a target. Good on goal as well.
Alan Didak. Nobody can tell me he's not an elite kick of the footy be it field or on goal.

These two may not quite fit the “elite” category, but for 192cm blokes they are fantastic kicks of the footy in field play – Luke McPharlin and Matthew Scarlett. Again, they rarely miss a target. (Although will accept they might chip it around a bit in the backline which distorts things).

Also like Heath Shaw’s long kicking to a target. Sets up Scumwood a lot from the backline with penetrating kicks that hit their mark.

Intresting how modern footy uses more of the elite kicks down back and sets them up to have space an time to deliver, though footy is just simply going the way of as many elite kicks as possible all over the park, makes it hard for blokes like White

Wow. You really hate Matty White dont you ? More than Gus Graham ?

Actually, Mitch Morton has let a couple of worrying habits creep into his kicking.

As the season wore on last year, he was getting closer and closer to the man on the mark. Usually this happens when a player feels that he is being tested for distance and wants that extra few cms but he was getting far too close even on shots that were around 30m out, indicative of a poor habit.

He also kicks across his body a bit too much for my liking, again suggesting poor habits. He's a bit flashy.

Agree that Guerra is a very good kick, esp with regards to picking targets short and putting the ball on the advantage side of his team-mate.

Andrew Macleod would go close to being the very best kick on the run in the AFL.

Top post. Some great examples there.

I've long been a admirer of Wheatley's long kicking, doesn't get as much respect as he is due for it. His long kicks to advantage are impressive.

Yeah, he's great. There's not many better at hitting a bloke on the lead whilst he's running flat out at them. The weighting and accuracy off the boot is great to watch.
