Most improved & falling away?

Most Improved
Richo, Moore, Johnson, Morton (low base)

Improved
Tambling, Riewoldt, Hyde, White, Delidio

Average - some long term concerns
Schulz (a step up admittedly for Schulz to be deemed average), McMahon, Newman, Pattison, Polak, King (he's either being spanked or doing the spanking, no middle ground but people have started talking about needing a small back pocket again...)

Where has their form gone?
Jackson, Petts, Tivva, Bowden, Polo

I am really happy that Petts, Tivva and Bowden have been asked to improve their defensive pressure and do more. All three have genuinely shown they can improve in the past when asked and therefore I am hopeful that they do so again and put real pressure on the team for places. If not then it will be time to put the axe against the chicken coop gate, and earlier than I would have thought for all three actually.

Bretto...how could possibly have polak as average.....he has been woeful and is probably the only missing link in us going into the break with four wins.

Improved - hard ball gets, clearances, some quality disposals, sheppards and defensive pressure, spoils and forcing shots to be taken from wide angles.
Fallen away - still too many critical turnovers, not enough tackles ( and too many zoning corrals ) and too many missed shots for goal
But our overall intensity is getting better and the confidence to play one on one defensiely is improving.
Mainly due to the influx of youth, and the rejection of mediority from senior players such as Bowden, Pettifer, Tivendale, Polak, Schulz, and then Polo and some other younger players etc, Yesterday 4 of our five longest serving players lined up at Coburg, Bowden, Tivendale, Coughlan, Pettifer - that says something about the statements the coaches are making
The message is play tough committed footy or play at Coburg.
The team is significantly younger than last year with Richo and the kids leading the way

funny one.

I don't think Pettifer has fallen away at all. Hes still the same player at the same level he was.

Its just the RFC isn't going to tolerate his deficencies like it did in the past. They now have an option ( morton) who is showing he is better in the area Pettifer was lacking.

IMO Pettifer is still a very damaging player with the ball - its just thats not enough for this team any more.
I agree he is the same player, maybe he needs to go back.
I remember a few years back when he can back into side he was played back and that turn him around.

Don't know if you can teach a player hardness at the ball and the man when tackling. I think you're born with it. That's where Pettifer's deficient and I don't think he'll ever get better at it.

he can tackle and chase but chooses not to. and that is pettifers problem and always has been
