Ok, 4 weeks for Powell-Pepper. Fine, if that is what they want to do to protect the head then I really have no problem with this.

But, just wait, just wait until one of their more favoured players does something similar. Let's see what happens if Dangerfield does something like this, or anyone in a Collingwood guernsey.

Then we will now whether they are serious or just virtue signalling.

This is the madness of it all. That action definitely contributed to the incident. SPP has no idea what Rioli is doing or the strength of that tackle in the blink of an eye.
I actually think SPP was bloody stiff to get 4 games for that.
It’s going to be interesting to see what happens from here.
ps if that was worth 4 weeks, dangerflog on Vlaustin was at least 6

At least . . . but, it's Dangerfield.

It was mentioned on radio today that Webster went after Caldwell last week in a similar manner but not the same impact. With that in mind how could it be careless??

There comes a point where they need to remove this distinction. Careless or intentional, if you hit the head you get plenty of weeks.

The only incidents graded as 'intentional' are punches/stikes from what I can tell. 'Careless' is a bs catorgary anyway-way to broad.

yes, but that aside,

how does anyone possibly deem Websters hit as not intentional?

clearly lined him up and got him.

the quite huge obvious difference with the SPP 4 weeker,

is Webster deliberately and totally unnecessarily leaves the ground,

to get him in the head.

I reckon it should be 8.

perhaps the terminology should be

targeting the head and it doubles a penalty?

the Stewart hit on Prestia was as bad as Websters.

he doesn't leave the ground as high, but he runs further past the ball.

its more off the ball, and impact identical.

only 18 months or so ago?

I think Webster will get twice the penalty.

It should serve to highlight how much has changed,

and you'd hope Stewart would get 8 if he did the same this year?

Webster gets 7 weeks. 1/3 of the season. They probably won't play him against lolnorf one week later on R8.

Hmm. A so so penalty I guess. Sign of the times. Like SSP.
Plenty have got less over the last few years, even when the afl says “the head is sacrosanct”.
Maybe they didn’t know what that word meant then.
