ND 2008 - Who would you pick with pic 8?

If Rich fell to 8th FJ would call him in a heartbeat.

My gut feel is that HH will be gone by our pick and if you have seen much vision of him playing in Adelaide and other rep games you will know why he shouldn't get past pick 3.

I am worried that Hurley will be the slider and with good reason and we miss on TV, Yarran etc and we are left with the leftovers.

I'd take the best available kid that fits the bill FROM VICTORIA.

I think our interstate picks of recent years, apart from Tambling, have shown that the junior development of the TAC CUP is way ahead of the WAFL Colts and whatever that useless mob called the SANFL do for their kids.

I'd even consider a youngish player that is excelling at VFL level.

Let's leave these interstate guys alone until their associations get their act together and produce ready to go players, like the TAC CUP and the VFL do.

Rich played WAFL senior last year.

Travis Casserly will play WAFL senior in 2009. Should we draft him next year?

Well there is a big if whether he will actually play, he also won't be 17 with potential for improvement

I threw a dart three times at a list of names and as luck would have it the three names were
Hamish Hartlett
Jackson Trengrove
Tom Swift.
It must mean that one or more are coming to Richmond

I've now watched so many Youtube videos of these draft picks playing and the one that stands out like a star is Hartlett. Fantastic poise and kicking. So I hope that Number 8 is him.

i would take the best centre player (mid)
followed by the best CHF
followed by the best ruck
i would not take best available unles he had one of the above set positions (ie) no flankers and no utilities no matter how good they are (we alraedy ahve talented flankers and utilities in Lids and bling)

wheres our fab four?
1. Cotchin
2. Foley
3. ?
4. ?

An interesting write up by Matt Burgan, ive pasted a few paragraphs below, to read the full article which is a good read just click on the link...

Intrigue continues as draft day looms

There have been more twists and turns than a James Bond movie, with the Stephen Hill/Daniel Rich scenario at No.3, complicating the order immensely.

Jack Watts (No.1 – Melbourne) and Nicholas Naitanui (No.2 – West Coast) look locked in, with Hill now almost certain for Fremantle at No.3.

Now it appears, Essendon will shape the draft.

Michael Hurley, Steele Sidebottom and Daniel Rich are the most likely contenders for the Bombers pick No.5. The hot tip is Hurley or Sidebottom. It will be fascinating to see what eventuates.

From there, No.6 to No.11 will also be intriguing. Where does Daniel Rich fit? Could he land at Carlton at No. 6, or even filter through to Collingwood at No.11?

Chris Yarran (Carlton – No.6), Jack Ziebell (Brisbane Lions – No.7) and Tyrone Vickery (No.eight) are now shaping as the most likely scenarios.

Matt Burgan’s latest top 20

1 – MELBOURNE – Jack Watts

2 – WEST COAST EAGLES – Nicholas Naitanui

3 – FREMANTLE – Stephen Hill

4 – PORT ADELAIDE – Hamish Hartlett

5 – ESSENDON – Michael Hurley

6 – CARLTON – Chris Yarran

7 – BRISBANE LIONS – Jack Ziebell

8 – RICHMOND – Tyrone Vickery

9 – NORTH MELBOURNE – Steele Sidebottom

10 – ADELAIDE – Jackson Trengove

11 – COLLINGWOOD – Daniel Rich

12 – SYDNEY SWANS – Mitchell Brown

13 – ST KILDA – Tom Lynch

14 – WESTERN BULLDOGS – Ayce Cordy

15 – GEELONG – Lewis Johnston

16 – HAWTHORN – Phil Davis

17 – MELBOURNE – Sam Blease

18 – WEST COAST EAGLES – Tom Swift

19 – MELBOURNE – Ryan Schoenmakers

20 – WEST COAST EAGLES – David Zaharakis

3. Lids (you can add lids in there hands down, hard at it and skilful) oh yeah our B&F winner
4. ???

See No 3....

Lids, Cotchin, foley and ?

Just noticed that Matt Burgan has daniel rich at No 11 to the pies, could he really slide out of the top 10?

Ill be thinking about this all night, we've been for over a month pondering about vickery and hartlett for our pic 8 and to a lesser extent Ziebell and swift....Now all of a sudden Ritchie Rich says hey i want to make my way to punt road, pick me!

What a dilemma if rich and vickery are both there at pic 8, i think port will pic hartlett BTW....

Ive all along wanted vickery as it attends to an urgent need for a power ruck that can go fwd, on the hypothetical rich falls to pic 8, do we grab him and try and snare Roughhead at pic 26?

As Dyer Disciple said a few months ago this is going to be the hardest to predict and most interesting draft in memory.

Aint that the truth!

Vickery is the one we want. He has something that we lack - a real appetite for the contest. Word out of the dragons is that he loves it hard. Just looka t how hard he worked to get back from his knee.

Re: ND 2008 - Who would you pick with pic 8?

Well folks the excitement starts now,

Vickery looks the likely for pic 8 but gee anythings possible....Just listening to SEN, live on AFL site and PRE
