Love the Big Balmey, still remember him kicking goals at the PRE in the 70’s, was a bollicking FF.
He was at the 2016 AGM not long after rejoining the club and it was a bloody long night that one. Well as I was leaving and walking through the car park he was hopping into his Jeep (correct one because he had it open) and as I walked past I wanted to say welcome home but I thought, nah leave the man alone. Anyway as I was passing we caught each other’s eyes and he must have seen the welcome home thought crossing my mind because he sort of acknowledged it by a smile and a tilt of the head.
Maybe it was my imagination but I swear he could see the look of welcome home Balmey. I knew he was the missing key for us.

Started his VFL/AFL career at the Tiges during a golden era at the club, will finish his AFL career at the Tiges during another golden era.

They’ve identified a WISH list and he’s on it ? Balmey history was that he was notoriously difficult to move from his key role at the cats and only came our way ex pies with gubby Allan effectively ambushing his role. Would be out of step for him to up and leave Melbourne
