I like Neil Craig hes a top coach and would love to have him coaching the Tigers, but to say he is a straight shooter? To not make excuses is what you expect from a coach after a press conference, but what they say surely doesnt represent deep inside what they are really thinking. Everyone knows Adelaide have been ravaged by injury, everyone knows that in today's AFL if you lose your best players for any period you are going to struggle, everyone knows that if you bring back injured players for the first time after a lengthy layoff in a preliminary final that you are going to be disadvantaged.
I think Neil was resigned to the fact that Adelaide had done remarkably well to get where they did, once the wheels had started falling off. Whilst disappointed at the loss, as the underdog, its easier to say there are no excuses and the better team won, than when you were expected to win, where you then naturally tend to look for excuses. Not saying that Neil Craig would have under another circumstance, however by the letter of the law, he'sdefinitely not a straight shooter. No AFL coach is. Has an immensely powerful football brain however and is a proven classy coach.
