What are the most pressing and critical issues that a new coaching staff must address? I say "coaching staff" because I am assuming that our new senior coach will hand pick some assistants.

I'll throw some out there, but I need help arranging these in order of importance and please add anything I have forgotten.

- Leadership
- Culture
- List Management
- Game Plan
- Selection Criteria
- Training methods and fitness
- Mental toughness
- Long term plan

Good thoughts Mex.

For what it is worth here is my priority list with one addition.

1. Long term plan
2. Player skill management
3. Game plan
4. Training methods and fitness
5. Mental toughness
6. Selection criteria
7. Culture
8. Leadership
9. List management

One could expand on the list at length giving reasons why one is more important than the other, but really, the order is not all that important, but the whole of the above in its entirety is. After such a drought period lets hope and pray the powers that be, contract a coach who will implement all of your list suggestions. The current coaching group have not been seen to address 2, 3 5 and 9 in particular.

Great list.

Add player development.

I'm told the only thing wrong with Meyer, Casserley, Gilmour, Hughes Oakleys etc...

is that Richmond called their name out on draft day

Great List, for me being ex military I'd go for your list in the following way:

1. Long term plan
2. Training methods, discipline, teamwork and fitness (Player Development)
3. Player skill management
4. Game plan
5. Mental toughness
6. List management
7. Selection criteria
8. Leadership (see Player Development)
9. Culture & Tradition

Do the long term plan, training methods and fitness, player skills, game plan and mental toughness in that order. If you do the first 4 right in Player Development, the 5th "mental toughness" will follow as your playing list develop their skills and confidence, but it wouldn't hurt also to throw them out of their individual and team comfort zones by getting them to do things that they are really challenged on.

List Management is next to address some of the more pressing issues in our list, namely shortage of KPP and to see how RFC can get the best draft picks possible end of season.

Leadership, Culture and "Tradition" I've put at the bottom, mainly because if you do the first 5 things in my list correctly, players will develop their leadership accordingly, plus the culture of the place will change as the players mindset changes and I've included Tradition because Tradition is vital, its the one thing that needs to be hammered into the players, you are a privileged person to be able to wear the RFC guernsey, make sure you honor it and the RFC.
