Happy Gilmour!
By Tony Greenberg
Richmond's No. 1 pick in the 2003 National Draft, Alex Gilmour, has even more reason to smile at the moment . . .
Not only was the talented 17-year-old taken by the club that he has barracked for all his life, but he'll be wearing the No. 29 guernsey made famous by one of the greatest Tigers of them all -- Kevin Bartlett.
The Tigers decided to hand KB's No. 29 to young Alex, knowing how much it would mean to him, and his family, who are also long-time, passionate supporters of the Club.
Ironically, just after Alex was drafted, he was pictured in 'The Examiner' newspaper wearing a Kevin Bartlett-signed guernsey, which is proudly owned by his uncle, Martin Gilmour, who is chief-of-staff at The Examiner.
In other fresh guernsey number news from Tigerland, Nathan Brown will wear No. 7, Shane Morrison has No. 16, Shane Tuck has No. 21, Tommy Roach has No. 22, Daniel Jackson has No. 23, Brent Hartigan has No. 33, Simon Fletcher has No. 34, Kyle Archibald has No. 37 and Andrew Raines has No. 38. And, as announced in early November, Jack Dyer's famous No. 17 guernsey will now be worn by each Richmond captain, starting with Wayne Campbell in 2004.
