I think as PRE members we should all start a new tradition.

After the game last week, my brother and I went to where the tiger army was. They sang that song off "Remember the Titans" the one that goes

"people want to know"
"people want to know
"who we are"
"who we are"
"and we tell them"
"and we tell them"
"We are the tigers"
"We are the tigers"

I think it would be an alsome sight if all Richmond members + any other supporters went to where the tiger army are, behind the goals and all sang the song after the game. There where about 250 people there with everyone singing the song and it was alsome specticule.

Hey just a thought?

I used to sing that song at school swimming competitions. I don't know how original it is. ???

I too have heared and been a part of that "euphoria",its great. I know at 3/4 time they normally crank up the old chant, and have everyone around them chanting "Tiger Army,Tiger Army,Tiger Army".....good stuff.

I once contacted the MCG and suggested to them that on RFC home games they give "Eye of the Tiger" a run at say, the 5 min mark before the boys ran out. They liked the idea, but said that Advertisers had book time on the scoreboard etc and they could'nt do it.......always bloody something... :(

I agree.  collingwood has the golden jacket, charlie has the golden ticket, midus has a golden hand and even the goose has a golden egg.

I hate that rip-off of the barmy army chant. :blah :vomit

I wish they'd come up with something more original. Even adapting Dorothy the Dinosaur would be more local and fun: R-I-C-H-M-O-ND - Richmond the Tiger stars....

On second thoughts...

Someone should just bring a cd player and play "I'm the best around" really loud, it worked for the karate kid.

In the early 80s I remember two cheer squad members bringing their large portable tape decks and trying to synchronise AC/DC's For Those About to Rock, but even when they got the tapes to start at the same time there was the problem that the tapes were playing at slightly different speeds. :hihi

I reckon we should incorporate the start of eye of the tiger and mix it in with the start of the club song, bit like the start of the tigers show on sport927 on monday nights

i love the 3.4 time tiger army chant.. i think 3.4 time is a perfect time for it and i dont think they should over use it... what would be good would be to see more fans from around the ground to go in front of the goals and join in. make it a tiger member ritual at 3.4 time rather than just a cheer squad thing. i remember a couple yrs ago the coach (i get mixed up with all we've had) actually sent the 3.4 time huddle down to the goal sqaure to hear the tiger army chant. it must pump them up so if it does lets get more people in on it to not only pump our boys up but to scare the living **** out of the opposition..

keep up the good work cheer squad

what about "if I was a Richmond, bah bah dah dah,"

Two in a row No. 4! Great stuff :cutelaugh

the 34 time chant is great but i'm always out getting a beer. it should be sung during the game like how the poms do it

For those not aware of how this works: "Everywhere we go" only gets a work out at 3/4 time, only when we're still in it or on special occasions, and only at the instigation of some of the top-end Grog Squadders who have earned their stripes over many seasons. Like most tribes it's hierarchical. Friendly bunch but know your place. ;D

I hate that 3/4 chant- its SO corny and unoriginal. I cringe when I hear it. A good chant/song tradition would be nice, but PLEASE come up with something a bit more inspiring than that crap.

Some people need to listen from time to time to appreciate the extent of the songbook. Of course a lot of these things are derivative, otherwise they don't catch on. Plus they are born, evolve and die out with time: golden oldies and current events. Some come with a very long tradition behind them, adapted to Richmond. If it came with the regular preamble "Old Ted Croker said: What is happening?!" nobody in this country would comprehend, but they sure understand the rest of it.

A bit of backdrop and atmosphere is even more important in these days of playing 50 games a year at soulless Shocklands. There are other ways of showing support other than sitting blandly in a plastic seat or leaning over the fence abusing the players. Bit of vocals never hurt anyone.
