I think we are building a very good leadership group, however I dont think any of the boys are any more credentialled then Sugar.
Lids has stamped himself on the game at 21 and I dont see the point of adding all the extra duties on him with the Captaincy.
Axe very similar to Lids ,think hes just better concentrating on his own game.
Newman I actually do think he will be Captain next year and think hes an improved player ,however sorry but as a very good player he dosent compare to other league Captains and I dont remember to many half back flanker Captains.
Just shows we have a void here and maybe Sugar might as well hang on to it for another year or maybe 1 of the other senior core...
I am actually not that fussed except it would be a huge honour and should be just given to a good ordinary player

The captain is the guy with the best leadership not who is the best player at the club. As clearly shown with Harley..... you'd have Ablett, Bartel, Chapman, Corey and other guns at Geelong that would knock Harley off if playing skill was the key criterion.
Deledio is a gun but is no where near ready and far too young at this stage. If he is captain material his time will come as his game matures, but there's no point throwing it at him just because richmond fans have a flower sniffing love affair with the idea.
I voted Newman, but I think keeping it with Sugar or giving it to Tuck, Simmo or even Richo aren't bad options either.

I agree that Tuck, Simmo or Richo would be great options too. For Richo he bleeds for the club and wears his heart on his sleve. But wouild it all glo to his head? Tuck is a consistent bloke and always gives 100% so he would be up there.
We could even put brown in there. He loves the club and likes the media so he can put the club and the players out there.
Newman, Tuck, Brown (either could be captain)
All the others though would still be in the leadership group.

Lids would be 27-28 then,hopefully will be a superstar by then and will deserve to keep it but if he's just going through the motions Cotchin will be 24-25 and I'm almost certain he's gonna be a great leader and would deserve to take over then.
