Using Fridays game it works like this
Buffalo (-2.5) are favoured to win against the Rams (+2.5)
The line refers to how many points a team will win by eg Buffalo will win by 3 points or more (-2.5)
or
Rams will win, or at worst lose by no more than 2 points (+2.5)
The line is essentially placing a handicap on each team.
