Eerily Similar scoring in both GF’s

No surprise in hindsight.

It is not fully understood or acknowledged how well we smashed the crows In 2017.

I think the Roar summed it up beautifully with their quote “and there is no way Adelaide only lost that grand final by eight goals”.

Prestia goes under the radar, such a big time radar - and for Dusty not to be in the AA just shows how the AFL just continues to get the basics wrong and have completely lost their feel for the game.
The current All-Australian selection panel consists of chairman Gillon McLachlan, Kevin Bartlett, Luke Darcy, Danny Frawley, Steve Hocking, Glen Jakovich, Chris Johnson, Cameron Ling, Matthew Richardson and Warren Tredrea....... Too many people with a focus not conducive to being insightful. Seriously how many games would Gill watch where he isn't discussing his share portfolio or the merits of his latest polo pony?

Pretty sure Gil's is a non-voting role.

one from the RFC website,

The tiges kept the opposition to 70 points or less 16 times out of 25 games during the 2019 season.

without Rance

We only did it 13 times in 2017, and 11 times last year

Melbourne's best run during the 1950's was 46-4. Also went 41-8-1 in the 1920's.

Essendon (late 90's/early 2000's) went 41-9.

Hawthorn's best starting in 2012 was 40-10, Collingwood starting in 2009 went 39-9-2.

Richmond in the 1960's went 39-10-1.

To be fair, this stat favours us because we get more MCG games within a shorter timeframe (so less change to the squad), which is why I suppose the 2nd and 3rd best runs were also recent.

Those Melbourne teams of the 1950’s and 20’s offer us a clear #1 to try and surpass.

Having said that, everything is harder to achieve in the modern system, so an argument could be made that this version of Richmond is the greatest club of all-time.

The impressive thing is that of those 16 times, 11 of them were in the last 12 games. The only time a team scored more than 70 points during that time was the eagles with 82

Proves we don’t need him.
Should have traded him when we had the chance

Wow Lambert could move to outright 2nd place after Round 1. There is some decent company in that list.

I've been wondering since Grand Final day if there had ever been a Grand Final where both teams had a player with a number in the 50s, as Pickett and Sam Reid did (both wore 50).
Just listened to the 3AW call and Tony Leonard and Tim Lane were discussing it in the last quarter.
Lane said that Shaun Rehn (#52) in 1997 and 1998 was the only player who had ever worn a number in the 50s in a Grand Final - on any team let alone both.
But I think he said he was going to elaborate with a complete list, but he never did.
If that was the complete list then he was wrong because Ian Owen wore #52 for Richmond in 1969.
Does anyone else have any further details on that?

Not really a stat, but 2019 marks the centenary anniversary of our first VFL grandfinal. Great way to celebrate the occasion by going one better.

Then we have that idiot Scott saying we were better last year. Salty is obviously not known for his in depth thinking

Remember when Spud ran onto the ground at 3/4 time yelling “Too old! Too slow!”at North? He was trying to give his players a bit of belief. No, it didn’t work either.

The Grand Final team contained six players who had previously captained an AFL club (Cotchin, Edwards, Riewoldt, Martin, Lynch, Prestia). When Rance returns it'll be seven and a new club record.

The all-time record is eight for St.Kilda in a few 2005 games, and Port in 2012.
