What is the general view regarding a Night Grand Final

They say it works for NRL and NFL and major Olympic events, cricket world cup, one dayers, soccer world cup and European Socceer Championships work at night.

I know TV want it and I see Nathan Brown wants it as it would creat a great atmosphere

My view is that I am against it for following reasons.
Social
My the time the game is over it would be too late to celebrate. Each year I catch with my mates and we only last to about midnight as they have been going at all day and if it was night grand final, nobody will want to celebrate.

Each year I go to Grand Final with my Dad but as is 2 hours away and has to milk cows at 4am he cant go to night matches, so on a personal level I would miss out on that (not that anyone bar Dad & i would care about that)

I just think it would be done for the wrong reasons, ie supposdly better pre match
entertainment and firecrackers. TV ratings would be good weather its day or night and possibly only a small % would watch it non afl states if it was on at prime time.

The Game also would suffer at night as the skills are better during the day than night
and we need to have the best conditions for our players.
Rugby is just running game so the skills dont suffer, soccer the ball stays on the ground and there is no marking and cricket does suffer at night as it is easier to bat during the day than night.

We need to start or keep our traditions not follow them

Anyway that is my beef for the day.

Cheers
