I apologize if this has been posted elsewhere and I missed it. I was just going through the list and seeing who got what jumper no. I noticed that Carl Peterson has been given 28. I thought that when the captain got given no 17 (in this case Johnno) their original number was retired until they either relinquished the captaincy and went back to it or retired from the game. Has something changed? I also thought Foley was going to get number 9, yet that seems to still be vacant. I liked Cambo as a player, but I think it's about time someone else got the number.

Read between the lines CTT.

A blind man can see that they decided for Johnno to finish his career as skipper and therefore offer No. 28 to Carl Peterson which helps keep the Indigenous boys close to each other in the locker room (27 Krak, 28 Peto, 29 Jazz, 30 Tambo)

Pretty sure it's been posted here that Carl has the #28 on loan from Johnno so his locker is alongside our other Aboriginal players' lockers.

That is what I heard too. Also would be good to see Johnson play the rest of his career as Captain of the Tigers. Would be every tiger supporters dream as a kid wouldn't it, be captain of the mighty tigers? And he has a realistic chance of making that happen.

This was widely reported at the time. As Rosy said, 28 is on loan so Carl can be next to the Aboriginal boys to help him settle in. By the time Jonno needs it back Carl will either be a Tiger champion and offered another number or he'll be gone. I'm hoping the former. :)

Brofo, im hoping the former too, from what ive heard this kid can play....would've loved to see him out their for the dreamtime at the G game.

Heaps of time and plenty of dreamtime games to come. We'll be kicking Sheedy and his love child Lloyd's arse for the next decade with any luck and Carl can be part of it.

:clap

I never heard anything about it at the time, but it seems to be for a good reason. I thought Johnno may do what Campbo did and give the captaincy over to a younger player, but stick around for a year to help the new captain transition into the role.

Tow thoughts

No co-captains whilst the Captains number is 17,

17A, 17B, 17C , 17D, youre kidding

And Carl is sorely missed, as he was recruited as an alternative ruck and we need another ruck right now

He's a bit short for a ruck don't you think. He may be able to pinch hit in the position but at AFL level I would think he would be easily found out by the better ruckmen. His reported leap sure is exciting though and will be an asset to the team no doubt.

Of course he's too short for a ruck, it was ridiculous to have a highlights clip on the Richmond website showing him as a ruck. If you want a ruck, and we need a fit ruck, then recruit a ruck i.e. someone with the physique to be able to ruck week after week.

Take a chill pill Bill, i think we know he aint a ruckman but i didn't mind the footage seeing him take em on in the ruck shows he has a great leap, got me thinking this guy will take some big marks...

Foley was offered no 9 but he didn't want it. Don't know about the no28 that's weird.

Maybe Foley didn't want the number 9 jumper because he didn't want the curse of going missing in big games
like the previous.

OOOOHHHHH, Gee sorry that was a bit of a low blow......But it's the truth. ;D
