Interesting that so many names and suggestions about what we should do with our list are popping up because I hate to tell you this, but Miller seemed to suggest on Sunday that there’d only be the obligatory 5 or 6 changes, and that where our draft picks are concerned, because the draft was so shallow in his opinion, there was a possibility that the club may use one or more of our later picks to get an experienced player from another club.

Note: he didn’t specifically say these 2 things would definitely happen, but merely indicated them as a possibility. Even then, whilst he was saying it, I thought of a few PRE’enders and how they may have gone ballistic at the suggestions…hah hah hah hah hah…

I'm beginning to think this is what we'll do.

This club needs a Leigh Matthews type coach desperately.........

Yeah, know what you’re saying.

Still think Wallace is a good coach and should be capable of getting the job done, but you’re right in the sense that from a distance it almost seems that the club applies a lack of pressure and sternness with the players i.e. the aggressive “do it this way NOW or it’s the highway” approach that Matthews seems to adopt, no matter who you are.

Having said that, the real number one problem is an inability to get the required player type into the club and dispense of those that are incapable. That’s where I reckon the club needs to improve immensely. Maybe it dove tails a bit with above, dunno.

Yep exactly.

Loved the bit of the article in the HUN today where Miller reckons we won't specifically be targetting talls also.

They have the skill level at times.
But they drop away under pressure.
And where is the leadership. I really feel that is what is lacking.
Richmond does not have leaders except for Richo and he is exasperating at times.
But the coaches also fail by not making players accountale for their errors.
Drag them if the stuff it up. Not on anymore.

The only difference to the characteristics of this particular trough and the many others we've had over the years is the performance of the seconds, or Coburg I should say.

Normally when this happens there's nothing, no depth, crap kids, too many overrated 25+ hacks to fit into a decent cleanout, floundering reserves, nothing. At least we have that.

Schulz stays.

No tall forward in the league can play well with such a pathetic on-ball brigade feeding them the ball. There is absolutely no cohesive delivery coming into the forward line. We don't have many KPP's yet we want to get rid of Schulz. He stays.

Agree 100% Harry.

Team is quick, skillful...very raw...would get belted a few times but would learn to play together...its time to start handing over the reigns...changing of the guard if you like...this club needs to be totally gutted....rid the cancer

8ty you are on fire in this thread. Great stuff. :fing32

"can take...lies, graphs"
talking of graphs.......................
did anyone notice that Twallace's 1/4 time board was completely viewable from the PA huddle. Go Tezza, you are one alert scotsman!!

Maybe he was hoping Port Adelaide WOULD see our board and start using our gameplan against us....you know...bring them down to our level. :hihi

One of the things that is holding this club back is the carry over from the 1980's tit for tat with collingwood. We have developed a soppy sentimental attitude that prevents us from making tough calls.

We really need a serious look at all listed players and their net worth out on the field. Forget about the ipact on memberships. ANother thread has already shown that people will support the club. If a suitable trade can be found then no-one should be immune except for a few commited players.

With the soppy sooky lala attitude prevailing this club will spiral downwards. Get rid of the deadwood....I honestly think it will mean delisting as there is little trade value for many of the players and draft poach steal players who WANT to play for a jumper. Its time that the Yellow and Black was again hated and feared as we were during the Graeme Richmond era.

Interesting times at punt road.
However, there will be more bleeding next year before things start to improve.
Wouldnt be surprised that we will actually see some improvement in the second half of next year.

Our skill and fitness levels are at an extreme low.
Our recruitment and list management highly questionable.

However, things RFC have started to implement this year:

A development program for younger players (as stated in earlier posts on this thread)
A proper list manager to be appointed (not sure if we have one yet, but Miller had too many roles)
Increased focus recruitment (appointment of full time lead scout anf some part time scouts)

With these 3 plans only NOW being implemented, the club wont have the necessary skills, experience and expertise to use them by the time this years draft comes around.

Therefore, dont expect massive changes. Tigers will only drop the 5 to 6 players it needs to under AFL rules.

Players that are/will be gone this year:

Darren Gaspar
Trent Knobel
Kent Kingsley

Not sure about who the other 3 will be...

Expect more changes before next years draft. Why?

RFC are looking at giving one more year to players like Moore, Jackson and *smile* to see how they respond to the new development program. If they dont show any improvement, they will be gone at end of next season.

With Kane Johnson and Ray Hall (Terry will see how he comes back from injury if not dropped at this seasons end) coming close to being off contract, expect him to retire/pushed at end of next season to allow more selections in draft. A draft where we will have imformation gathered from our OWN sources.

And latestly, back to the development program, Tigers want to make sure they have a system that works before bringing in more young footballers.

Overall, i wouldn't hold your breathe for great things to occur in this years draft.
More of the same looks like on the horizon in draft sense.
Maybe some more improvement in the youngsters we have with the new program.
