It's great to see the name Balta back on the team sheet but I won't be surprised if he's a bit scratchy first game up.
Has sometimes taken him a few games to get back to his best after being out.
Fingers crossed he plays well.

he isnt a forward. We have *smile* around enough with him. Keep him back.

They need to lock him into a position. Throwing him around all over the place isn't helping

Must play down back. Don't be fooled by the athleticism, he's not a forward.

Hasn’t had a good year. Injuries haven’t helped but has definitely regressed.

And he’s a back. This is beyond dispute.

Problem is we have too many tall key backs. Tarrant, Miller, Gibcus, Balta, Grimes, Broad. None of them are forwards. We had to try someone up forward and he's the one who's shown the most promise.

Presuming Gibcus will be out for a couple of weeks there's now another spot down back for him. But we miss Lynch terribly. Riewoldt as his foil works well but less so when he's the number one - granted he did get a lot of the ball today.

Genuinely think a lack of stability in positions/coaching has hurt us.

Gibcus, Balta, Baker, Shai - all struggling while being played different positions from week to week.

Our 2 best players this season probably Dan Rioli and Marlion - always same position.

Stability works

This is a good post.

Stability is good for most players. Balta isnt a footy head, learning the game, they said it from the time he was drafted. Not a natural footballer. More so an athletic beast.

Throwing him around hasnt helped him - its unsettled him. And its had another effect of pushing back his d/ment as a backman IMO.
Either way, he is NOT a forward. Sure he may get a bag of goals every so often but only up against a poor player.

He is a backman who has lost a shitload of confidence b/c the MC have toyed with him IMO.

Balta is like my old 74 Valiant Galant. It looks all right, but needs to warn up before it gets going.
Balta isn't a forward

He was being labeled the next Alex rance at one stage - he needs to go back and be left there. Especially with our backline being so poor at the moment his intercept marking will be critical. Not sure if we have been developing well, gets moved around too much and that’s not good for his confidence

Agree and I basically saw him as a potential Rance Mk II
He has the size, strength, speed, marking and spoiling skills to enable him to be a great long term full back

Spot on.
He takes a long time to get back into it, that's what I notice.
He isn't a foward, your 100% right.
Thank God for Tarrant, because we would have a defence weaker then Norths
