North Board Signals Aggressive Coaching Pursuit
By Lou Sborlget for spittle.com.au

North Melbourne has signalled that it will be more aggressive in its pursuit of a coach to replace Dean Laidley after Nathan Buckley declined the club’s advances earlier this week.

“I told Nathan that we thought we were a good fit for him,” said North President James Brayshaw after the club’s Board meeting last night. “But he didn’t take the offer seriously.

“In hindsight I shouldn’t have approached him in the dressing room before The Footy Show. I was dressed like Michael Jackson, but I think he’s more into The Village People.”

Brayshaw said that the North Melbourne Board had last night ratified a procedure to identify and attract the best coach for the club. “Our procedure is very different from Richmond’s ‘process’,” he said. “It’s a procedure, not a process.”

Furthermore, Brayshaw will not be involved in identifying suitable coaching prospects or luring them to the club. “We’ve brought in a professional to do that,” Brayshaw said. “A man with an unrivalled record in identifying talent. A man who always gets his man. And best of all a North Melbourne man.”

Greg Miller will commence the procedure once he returns from a caravanning trip.
