Great Idea. RFC History ! (Maybe something that can be created by the historian & Rhett) Like a uni subject.

I think they all should be pushed into a room small groups at a time & slowly be taught our history.

Maybe even have living legends prepare the talks for their eras (successful or not). Tigerlee, maybe this is a better angle the club can actively work on(more towards what you meant). Many past players have said if they can offer something they would. Lets not just depend on a small number of high profile people like KB & Hafey but other that were undeneath them, before them or after them

I clearly remember how annoyed Rex was handing a jumper to Ottens "5" & he got a blank look back from Otto like he had no care factor. Many modern players just don't get it as they are far too young to understand our passion. Haven't lived it.

maybe as another topic
Does anyone know who on our list actually barrack for before coming to our club, eg White = Richmond, Richo, bowden = Tiges, any others?

I think Sheedy done something similar with Essendon. They all had to learn the history of the bombers and then he made them all sit a test.

Don't know who passed or failed.

Don't agree. A footyhead is a footyhead is a footyhead. Plenty of kids get into their sports just as I did, with a mad passion to know everything about the history.

Apparently Jade Rawlings was like that in his playing days, but his type is the exception. History's not fashionable and I reckon a PREnder picked at random would likely know and appreciate more than most of the current players. How important it is, I'm not sure.

An older gentleman once approached Paul Bulluss in the rooms before a game to pass on some advice. After he'd moved on, Bulluss asked aloud "Who was that old *smile*?" It was Francis Bourke.

Maybe Sheedy can implement this RFC !
