Garry March: "we are on the verge of greatness" He predicts that by 2008 we will be one of the best performed clubs.

Some on PRE: "we will make the 8"

not yet...

I prefer Wallaces line "I don't think making the finals is the benchmark we are looking at, we will be content if we see we have improved and all the graphs are going in the right direction"

Not to be negative, but there are two truisms to keep in mind by my way of thinking:

1) yes we have drafted well and will improve, but many other clubs will remain strong or improve as well. Finishing low on the ladder and drafting high picks means only that you will probably end up a better team than you were. At some clubs (hawthorn) many seem to think you finish low, it leads you directly to a premiership three years later. It really leads you to mid-table, the rest is coaching, determination and luck.

2) A few losses in a row against top teams, a few injuries and suddenly things aren't so rosy.

Let's say we are successful AFTER we have achieved things, not before. No year is a premiership year until October.

We don't want to be another St Kilda. I think the Bulldogs have style at the moment. They don't ever predict big things, talk themselves up or pat themselves on the back. They just quietly focus on winning each game, and that's all.
