You put the lime in the coco......sorry.

Seriously though guys and gals, if we take a seasoned veteran in the PSD, will we really have no room for rookies? What if we took Woewodin, since he said he'd take the league minimum? Would we have room then? I'd just like us to pick up a recycled player. Don't get me wrong, I'd rather rookies, but if we could get get a recycled player like Michael Stevens in the rookie draft I'd be really happy.

Paul Armstrong said that if we use a pick in the PSD we can only afford to take 3 rookies in the rookie draft instead of 4.
Ok i understand that however if we do take a kid in the PSD technically we do select 4 Rookies.I understand its a risk to take a kid who automatically goes onto the list.Payment wise im not sure what the difference is between a Rookie,s wage and a listed player is.Can someone clear this up?
To Red,Phanto,Evo,Skills my question to you guys.
Is there a kid that you think would be worth the risk to take him in the psd?

skipper, I'm pretty sure listed players get about double what the rookies cost & 2 years.

I'm not sure of that johnno, I think it depends on games played.

It costs $13,000 to upgrade a player from the rookie list to the senior list so that's all Matt cost over the rookies.

Greg discusses it in this interview on sport927.com.au

.......

If a Rookie is "upgraded" (which means promoted), then he gets the difference in minimum salary pro-rata for the time he is on the senior list.

If this happens late in a season, then it obviously won't cost as much as doing it early in the season (or even now).

There are additional costs involved, but a blanket "$13,000" cost can be misleading, and you may need to fill the spot on the list anyway so the upgrade may well be the cheapest option available.

All of this information can be obtained from the current CBA, which is available from the AFLPA web site:
