Was at Tulla today MB and saw the Storm boys and i must say it was a very youthful looking side indeed, not too many 1st graders in it from the majority i saw.

Also NRL preview magazine and new edition of Rigby League Week out today if any NRL fans interested got my copies. ;) Good reads both of em.

Also reckon the money being thrown at a no doubt extremely talented youngster in Sonny Bill is a *smile* disgrace, good as Sonny Bill is he is only one mere mortal, and it is the contracts both he and Mason have been on that have cost the dogs Steve Price, Asotasi, Myles and possibly in the future O Meley.

I would rather have depth in quality performers that are less injury prone in Myles Asotasi and O Meley at the Dogs and let Sonny Bill go to England to make his millions. Big call i know but 3 top 1st graders is better than one whose body will probably go on him in a few years the way he plays.
Agree Craig,Sonny has been dogged by injury & throw big bucks at him is not smart.

Sirro (Paul Sironen) has openly vented his disappointment young Pearce didn't stick with the Tigers.

At the time of signing mid last year dad,Wayne Pearce, declared the opportunity to hook up with coach Stuart the determining factor.Seeing as Stuart & Easts are no longer an item I'd reckon it was $$ , as with most things involving the Roosters stealing other clubs juniors/players, that swung the deal.

From what I'm told, Balmain also have a number of half backs running around though in the junior levels. He apparent;y tore us a new one the first time we played the Roosters in PL though >:(

That was a great article about the sons, let's just hope Filipaina's son and Blocker's son don't have their old mans tempers..... Neither of them would last more than a season in todays game ;)

If the junior Roach has even HALF the ability to free an arm and pop the ball in a 3 man tackle that his old man had, WT will be laughing.

Also in Balmain's junior league system is Curtis Sironen (son of former Tiger Paul),

A junior Sirro!!! I will be in heaven if this kid ends up as big as his old man ;D

King Wally, Meninga, Langer, Renouf , Sirro, Daley, Sterlo, Kenny, Grothe, Cleal, Blocker, Baa Lamb, Shearer, Ben Elias, Junior Pearce, Wishart, Hancock, The Walters Kev, Kerrod and Steve, Brad Clyde, Mark Geyer, Spud, Belcher, Bartrim, Tunks, Carroll, Billy Moore, Timmy Brasher, Gary Jack, Girdler, Fittler, Mario Fenech, Alexander the Johns boys, Larson, Close, Jackson, Miles, Lazarus , McGaw, ET, ah what great great days.

In trial matches so far this weekend.

Titans beat Eels - 22 - 10

Canterbury beat St George 26 - 16

Cronulla beat Souths - 22 - 4.

Chris Flannery gone for Roosters with broken leg and Matt Utai nasty ankle injury for Dogs in trials.

Flannery big loss for Roosters outfit that just looks well..... um who cares.

Storm beaten 30-20 by Manly which appears to be a good result with mainly Storm 2nd graders playing. Not much other info available at this stage.

Storm play Broncos in final trial match this Sat night at princess Park with kickoff at 6pm.Storm to field full strength side with Broncos likely to rest a few players on the back of their game in England.Just over 2 weeks before round 1,can't wait.

Good warning sign for the Brisbane Drongos. Well done Stormers.

BREAKING NEWS FROM NSW

Mark Gasnier out for the season with a torn pectoral muscle in game against Bunnies.

True Story ....................... dragons and Gaz devastated ............. thats bout it for the perrennial underachievers of recent in 07 i would reckon.

Also good news for the mighty maroons come origin time, but a shame one of the best in the NRL will be missing, Gaz is a gun and a huge loss for the Dragons.

Well done to Stormers on their win but the Broncos are just plodding at this stage and are building as always.

Mark O Meley and Sonny Bill could both be shown the door at Canterbury by weeks end if neither re sign, seems the dogs are sick of being held to ransom by the greed of individuals. (which one will stay , i believe Williams will stay and O Meley to sign for the Roosters for 170,000 a year more than what hes on at the dogs ............ where do these bums get their money.

Good on the Doggies, reckon Williams will still stay as most clubs won't pay his price particularly with his injuries.

C'mon you Rugby League gurus, give me some value to bet on for the Premiership. I see the Storm are favourites at around $5.50.

Discounting 'my Tigers' , reckon the Warriors worth considering as a 'dark horse' . Would have featured in finals last year but for their points penalty & seem to be going about their business this pre-season without much hype....

I think the Cowboys would represent good value.

Wonder if a similar mood exists at Roach's oldest son leaving the 'Young Waratahs' (Union),declining a Tiger offer,to hook up with Ricky Stuart at Cronulla ...

MJ,Do you think it has anything to do with Steve Roach being overlooked for a part time coaching role at the Tigers?

Can't have helped . Don't know if there's any illwill lingering from 1989 , though like to think 2005 may have wash some of it (if existent) away.

Coach Sheens seems not keen on many/any of the Balmain old boys , as his preferred help are guys like Royce Simmons etc, former Penrith colleagues . Could be that the club want to be seen as 'balanced' , rather than 'too Balmain','anti/pro Magpie' ....Whatever,so long as positions are being filled on merit .

Speaking of 'balance',I hope the Tiger guernseys worn in the trials are simply that as they have no gold colour on them at all (to my eyes anyway) . I'll openly admit my bias but it really grates how the club always seems to hide or downplay its Balmain links (particularly when you can see a Magpie on the jumper) . Trust it's not forgotten that Balmain (& not the other crowd) gave life to the JV....
