I see ex Tiger Anthony Laffranchi is up on a sexual assault charge which is serious to say the least.Laffranchi now with the Titans will reappear in court on 27/3.

Titans are fast becoming a supernova that could implode this year after such a dream start and entry to the comp, now the wheels are falling off everywhere, Carney, Turner, now Laffranchi geez not good times at Carrarra.

And we're not even at round 1

Sonny Bill Williams has re-signed with the Bulldogs for 5 years which to me is good & bad news.Good news he's staying but to commit to 5 years with William's injury history is dangerous.

Only 4 days for 2007 season kickoff.Round 1 highlights seee the Storm play the Tigers,Knights & Doggies do battle,Broncos & Cowboys play & the Gold Coast Titans make their debut in the NRL where they play the Dragons at home. Will post my tips later in the week.

Only hours away from kickoff to the 2007 season.My all important tips are as follows;

Storm to beat Tigers
Broncos to beat Cowboys
Dragons to beat Titans
Manly to beat Raiders
Warriors to beat Eels
Sharks to beat Penrith
Doggies to beat Knights
Souths to beat the Roosters

For those interested the Storm game is live on 9 tonight at 7.30pm.

Storm beat Tigers 18-16 in scrappy affair.Storm gave away way too many penalties & looked threatening at times but Tigers stuck to their guns & nearly won the game.Would think Tigers will be a better side this year & at least threaten the 8.Storm will need to lift a gear also but at least they hung on to win.In minor upset Cowboys beat Brisbane 23-16 in Brisbane.

went to the match last night and must say that even tho im not a storm fan that was a very impressive atmosphere.

this ol town is really puttin it on this weekend :clap

What a cracker of a way to open the 06 nrl season last night, with Storm prime time in their hard fought win over a very competetive Wests outfit, who showed if they can keep the injury gods on side have the ability to make a return to the 8.

Storm very very rusty but got the job done and good way to open the season for them.

Cowboys v Broncos without a doubt one of the best games of League i have seen for a while, end to end stuff, pressure, big hits a plenty, heaps of ball movement, and anyones game till Bowen stuck his head up ala Origin 05 to streak a 50 m intercept try to get the Cowboys home in a great start to the year for the entertainers who are gonna be very hard to stop in 07.

The playmaking quartet of Thurstan, Smith, Payne and Bowen is extremely dangerous and allows the Cowboys class accross the field in playmaking regardless of the location of the ruck.

Good hitout for Broncos except for injuries to Locky and a dislocated wrist for workhorse utility forward Corey Parker.

Of interest with these injuries the Broncos are devoid of their 2 main goal kickers.

Craigy good start to tips and 2 from 2

In other first round games

Bulldogs over Knights

Bunnies over Roosters

Titans over Dragons

Sharkies over Panthers

Warriors over Eels

Sea eagles over Raiders 8)

We only disagree with the Titans game Craig.

Last night's Melbourne scoreline an accurate reflection of the game.Tigers never really had field position in the 2nd half to consistently threaten & Storm were just that bit better. Never happy losing but not too disappointed with the Tigers 1st up effort all the same, particularly defensively.1st Leichhardt match v Manly next Saturday night . Another solid test beckons though hopefully home ground advantage will help see us prevail.

In other games Warriors have beaten the Eels 34-18 in solid 1st up performance,Croullas have beaten Penrith
18-0 so good start for the Sharks under Ricky Stuart & Manly are leading the Raiders 30-6 which is no surprise.Could be a long year for the Raiders after losing so much experience.Too early to call on Eels & Panthers.

Thought the Tigers were good MJ,sure they will be challenging for the top 8 come season's end.Their defence was good & like Melbourne their attack was hot & cold.Benji got through the game & will be better for the hitout. The Tigers v Manly game should be a ripper.I'd favour the Tigers at this stage.

In today's games Newcastle beat the Doggies 25-24 & the Dragons beat the new Gold Coast Titans 20-18.The Doggies played 1 short for all bar 4 minutes when Sonny Bill Williams was sent off for a high shot on Johns & resulted in him missing the rest of the game also but fortunately Johns has no facial fractures just concussion.

Don't usually take much interest in non Tiger games but lack of other TV options last night drew me to yesterday's games on Fox.

Very impressed with the playing standard + overall 'theatre' . Certainly set a high standard/expectations for the season & for other codes to emulate re contests/entertainment.
