Off-season targets

Jed Adcock fer sure, he'd fit into our backline nicely, bonus is that he's supposedely Lid's best mate from junior footy.

I think its crucial too use all our picks, plus a couple more if we can do trades(unlikley).....I would be more then happy to trade players to get a decent ruckman..But would be doing all that is possible to get a qulaity young tall forward(in Draft) as I believe this our greatest problem by a mile..

We don't have to do a trade just for the sake of it.

I want to keep our draft picks and just plough through the rebuilding phase like Geeong did.

Geelong traded two first round draft picks for Ottens and also had the luxury of the father son rule, so it wasn't simply a youth policy.

Agree. Stick to the youth path and develop our own future rather than go the cast off route. Cast-offs rarely work unless they're a Judd. But maybe Delidio and Cotchin can our future Judds anyway.

Adcock goes ok, not sure he would leave Brisbane.

Every club would take Adcock. Question is who is prepared to offer the most up. Would not like to get into a bidding war over him, other than to push up his worth so someone pays overs.

Looking at that draft 2 names jump out at me: Mitch Thorp and Nathan Djerrkura.
Mitch Thorp is a forward who cannot get a look in at the Hawks due to Buddy and Roughead. The Hawks are trying to address their deficiencies down back and are trying to turn him into a CHB. I can't see this happening. This bloke has a huge ego and the confidence that goes with it. Can't see him wanting to play second fiddle down back. An opportunity to play up forward at another club may be hard for him to resist.

Hmmm forgot about Thorp. Wouldnt have to pay too much for him either imo.

I don't think you'd get very far chasing Thorp unless you could stump up one of what we need in a class ruckman or a good key back, both on the younger side. Seeing you're not exactly drowning in these yourself, I can't imagine there being much to discuss.

As an aside, Thorp's been much potential, little delivery for us, mainly due to injury issues. I'm not sure how adding another injury-ridden, unproven youngster with unrealized potential would really help straighten up your program. For mine, you're best served snaring a cheap veteran to help buttress your development (a la Guerra in the PSD) or just hoarding picks and youngsters. Paying market value for a Thorp is probably the worst of both worlds.

I am hoping our days of picking up cheap veterans are behind us now. Hudson and co added little to the club.

Guerra - your joking right? Hopefully if his name comes up someone pipes up with "remember Mark Graham?" and a pen is quickly run through his name

I wasn't suggesting you take Guerra, obviously, just that you might get some value from a similar scenario. He cost us SFA, helped bring along this young team by filling a yawning hole and currently holds his place in a 13-4 side on merit. In time, he'll make way for a younger, hopefully better model, but at 26 still offers us a bit if one doesn't come along soon.

Put another way, if a player in their early twenties (just to be clear - not Guerra) was in the PSD who was capable of being a bona fide lockdown small defender right now, wouldn't you look at it?

Well put Motown.

Hmmm... I wonder what Buddy would look like with a 'fro? :)

Courtney Johns (essendon) Nice strong boy, can take a mark and can kick well. while LLoyd and Lucas are at the dons he will not get the opportunities he should?????????

Daniel Kerr he would be and great asset to our growing midfield.

Big Johnno Brown haha lets just hope!!!!!!
