Couldnt care bout the draw really you gotta beat everyone everywhere to be good enought to win a flag anyways.

I dont think we are finals aspirants in 07 anyways.
Not now anyway playing the top 4 sides of 2006 twice.

What he said. Have to beat the best if you want to do some damage. It is time to aim for some interstate wins and for a consistent run.

I actually dont think our draw is too bad. Go through it again, and you should be able to find a minimum of 11 wins next year. But hey, I cant talk, who knows what can happen from now till then.

i beg to differ. remember the ladder after round 22 this year? we play 4 out of the top 6 twice (one of the teams we play once is freo in perth). we play only 1 of the bottom 5 twice

They should be on free-to-air as the Sunday games start at 1:10, 2:10 and 5:10. Unless 7 and 10 are going head-to-head with the 1:10 and 2:10 matches, or unless they are showing only one game on Sundays, our four games should be on 7.

from what i'm led to believe the 1:10pm and 5:10pm game will be shown on fox and the 2pm game will be shown in full on ch 7 on a 1 hour delay (the 1:10 game will be shown on free to air in the other states because these games usually involve the interstate teams)

This means the season will kick off in February, and while protests will come streaming in about the heat, it can be easily avoided. Interstate matches in hotter climates should be played at night, while Victorian games played during the day can be pushed back until 4pm.

30 weeks is way too long i'm afraid, but if you're gonna extend the season, i would argue that you play the finals in october/november. the cricket season doesn't start late november and the only other sport going around is something that a lot of people (including myself) don't consider to be a sport.. horse racing

I like the sound of that....footy right up until the start of the international cricket season (the domestic season is already underway).

I too, don't rate the ponies as a sport and the current sports gap isn't great (although I don't know whether the missus would like the idea of sport all year round...she reckons its bad enough as it is! :rofl).

Yet another claw post I agree with. Been finding your post hard going recently claw but this ones a gem! :thumbsup

I believe to win a premiership a team needs to be able to travel and win. Let the pies stay at home in their comfort zone, then when the finals come and they find themselves travelling, they will struggle to win. They will purely make up the numbers to fill the coffers at the AFL.

My biggest bone to pick with the AFL over the draw is the consecutive years of back to back interstate trips. Don't know how these twilight games will go. My kids are school age and are usually in bed at 8.30pm on a school night, but for a couple of times a year, I don't think it will be too much of a hassel to get home and to bed a little later.

Our President has expressed his disappointment in next years draw on the club website. The club had requested a minimum 9 home games at the MCG.

surely you can play the first few games on a sunday? i remember whwn i playee cricket years ago and because of the collingwood/west coast draw, the grand final was a week late in 1990. we played our first cricket game on a sunday so we didn't miss the grand final

as with domestic cricket, just get the state teams to play their first home game at country venues. they'll get bigger crowds there anyway... then play the rst of the games from december

not sure if there is any real reason to complain about that one. we play 12 games at the G and 4 at the dome. the feral dome haters should be wrapped with that. personally i'd prefer a couple more at the dome
