Official AFL Club Members Figures for 2008

North have jumped a huge amount due to the gold coast push earlier in the year being foiled. There's also a LOT of non-Kangaroos supporters who bought season tickets just to stick it up the AFL. These will drop off in the next year or two, and they will go back to being a low 20k member club.
I'm dubious about these figures.
The Essendon website cites the same number of members as this table, yet acknowledges that it includes non-matchday members i.e., non-ticketed members.

It appears the afl may be comparing apples with oranges on this table. Not surprising given Roy Masters article in Saturday's Age which showed the afl's interesting 'interpretation' of data to sell the West Sydney team.

The current afl administration is dodgy. This data may well be deliberately misleading, or indicates an appalling attention to detail.
That said, our adult membership numbers are very ordinary.
Two factors: Well performed and Tasmanian 4 game memberships. If Tassie get a team in, they will fall.

The inconsistencies in this table can damage one brand whilst boosting another.
Look at our Junior Membership, nows thats a fantastic effort, being in the AFL merchandise game myself, we were surprised at our last meeting with the AFL where they provided statistics that RFC had the 2nd most Auskick applicants in 2008. Collingwood clear on top........Only if we had some success!!
