Official PREsident thread- #35 Matthew White

A Presidential update. Matty has been going quite well at Coburg and would be knocking on the door for senior selection. He trained with Richmond last week so mustn't be too far away.

I've read comments recently about his poor disposal and would like to point out that in the Champion Data stats on Player Performance in the AFL Record Matty is listed in the Midfielder's section. He has our second highest kick efficiency in that category with 82.6% and our third highest handball efficieny at 86.5. Those stats put him in the top few Tigers overall efficiency wise.

Matty knows he has a lot to work on and learn and he's made of the right stuff to do it. Am happy to see him given various roles at Coburg, gradually becoming a more complete player for the future, until he gets his senior call up when I'm sure his run, work ethic and determination will benefit our team greatly.

Eat 'Em Alive Matty.

He has a decent sized body too, wouldn't get pushed off the ball too much with the bigger bodied WC, I think he should come in this week, for Shane Edwards.

Go Matty!

We talk about strong bodies well whitey has one he should be in the team.
I like his hard approach to a contest and he has exceptional pace.

Best wishes to brave Matty who suffered concussion tonight by putting himself in amongst it. That's the kind of attitude that will win future premierships.

Matt White

I just love watching Matty White playing his style of footy. The 1 percenters, chasing & tackling are brilliant.Matt might not be the most skilled player, but he makes up for it with his genuine endeavour.I'd like to think his place in the team is safe for now.Keep going hard Matt, your a gem to watch! :clap

Re: Matt White

Agreed. He really seems to have bulked up compared to when he first arrived at Tigerland to.

Re: Matt White

Not sure he's there yet. Either he doesn't get enough game time or he's never where the ball is. I'd like to see him do well but I'm not convinced yet.

Or maybe he's suffering from being in this years bolters shadows. With Jackson, King and Foley showing huge unexpected improvements, does it make the likes of White & Howatt like poor in comparison ?

White to me Baloo has more strings in his bow than Howatt at the moment!

Don't disagree with you there, but I haven't seen a match where he really stands out. has he polled any votes on the PRE Player Voting yet ? It could be limited game time I guess.

Jacko is a classic case of some players taking longer to develop than others. If plenty here had their was he'd be long gone, no patience waiting for the kids to learn and mature at all. He's also been in the system longer than Whitey, as has Nathan who's a couple of years older. Kingy is both older and far more experienced in senior footy than Matty is.

Matty is not only younger than the 3 players mentioned but he's also played far less games. (16 to Dan's 28 and Nathan's 39). He's coming along quite nicely at this stage.

He's gutsy and determined that's for sure. I thought his 1%ers last Friday night were great, and he loves executing a strong tackle. I really hope he makes it with the Toigs.

Yep, I'm happy with Matty, he looks like he doesn't mind having a go and could become a much needed hard nut for us. As much as it's good to have the numerous highly skilled players, there will always be a spot for your Steven Baker sort of player.

The kid still has time on his side. He is only in his second year so hopefully will be given a bit of time. As Rosy mentioned Foley is a classic example. He was a ball magnet in the 2s, but struggles at senior level and many said he wouldn't make it, but he has shown what patience and a bit of hard work can achieve.

... add self belief to that. Flash Foley plays like he believes he can play (if that makes sense). I'm seeing it in Lids now too, and Tambling's self belief is on the rise, as is King's. There are others on the cusp. I hope we have a few wins this season, at least one out of the box toward the end so that these lovely young talented lads go into the pre-season feeling pretty good about themselves as a team in the making - whupping Essendon while the fat lady marks the end of RFC's season is a titillating scenario and would be a fine way to kill the year that had to happen.

I have more confidence and hope this year than in the last 12 because I can see logic in the changing of the guard and I'm excited about some of the talent in the team. And no, I haven't been drinking (yet).

I am a big fan of White, like what he does. Not a star at least yet, but worthy of a spot no doubt and it is blokes like him that do those 1 percenters that really add to a team even if he isnt dominating possession wise.
Good use of a pre season draft pick the year we got hium. Much better than Kingsle recently. RFC should look at the success that has come from White compared to the Kingsley Knobel ones and look to using this avenue. Really it is like having a rookie list player, I would not have thought we would have to sign them up for the 2 years.
